Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months?I live in the US and I am isolating in my home due to the virus. I am over 90, still active and live alone. I have been in the house for 2 weeks now and so far I see that I will be OK physically and emotionally and I will be able to do this as long as it takes. I do have a lot of interests that I can do from home so my days go quickly and I don't get bored. I will look forward to the time that I can resume my outdoor life again as I always went out every day to do things that I enjoy, but we don't have a choice now and must do this to protect ourselves.. I plan to do this a day at a time and hope it will end soon and we can all get back to our normal lives again.ViewDate:

LonelinessHi My husband died when I was 58 and I am very very old now--older than anyone who has posted here and have been alone all this time . After my husband died I had to rebuild my life. It took a few years but now I have a life that I feel is productive and satisfying. I have many interests and hobbies but it took a long time to find what would work for me. I tried many things that did not work, but little by little I have pieced together a good life. It did take time and effort. The internet has been a great help. I am a volunteer on a internet crisis hot line which is very satisfying and the internet has many other opportunities to interact from home which I find helpful. I feel that as long as we are alive there will be opportunities to make life as as happy as possible. We just have to find them.ViewDate:

Hello from a newbie and like minded memberI also am new to silversurfers and don't really know how to this site works yet. I did some gardening many years ago but I found it really was a lot of work. I do have a nice yard now which looks a little like a forest. It sounds like you and your husband have made a good choice to travel . The world is very beautiful and interesting. My husband and I traveled to a lot of places before he died, and we saw some wonderful places in that time .I don't travel anymore, but my life is quite interesting with many interests and hobbies.ViewDate:

Lost LoveI lost my husband of 36 years a long time ago. When he died I joined a support group for a while and found some activities and friends to have in my life for a while.. I tried many different single groups that did not work for me but I learned a lot about who I am and what I needed to be happy. I have been alone a long time now and have many interesting activities and interests that I enjoy. I feel happy and productive. Yes it did take time and effort. It means one has to rebuild their life to a different pattern. In addition to my many interests I am on a volunteer crisis hot line on the internet and help people live happier lives. Good luck, It does take time to learn about yourself --what you like and what will work for you, but it is well worth the effort.
