Should the Government launch a food-rationing scheme? If it is anything like my local shop ..... hardly any milk, sugar, bread, pasta, toilet rolls, paracetamol .... and what they do have is limited to one per person. Any other shop is 30 mins away by bus.ViewDate:

Should the Government launch a food-rationing scheme? Thanks for the info. I was in my 20's when I first reacted to eggs and every few years I add a new intolerance to my list. My daughter 32, if following me almost to the year, except for the lactose intolerance. She has everyone looking for her milk up here, its like gold dust :(ViewDate:

Daily diaries of those who are self-isolating due to CoronavirusHi FromePhil, The isolation certainly sucks and makes depression worse. I have never thought of myself as depressed but this year I am struggling. In 2018 I lost my mam on 12th April then my twin sister died April 5th, 2019, I have 5 amazing kids and they have rallied around to keep me going but this isolation/ lockdown is sucking all my motivation away as we near the anniversaries and all of the family is separated across the county. I guess having a son who's birthday fell just before each loss has helped because we made a big deal of it for him by laughing and joking, he is 18 today. Each year that one of my children reached 16 and 18 a family member has died so my son has been anxious and although it is in bad taste we have teased him that this pandemic is his fault. I know humour does not help everyone through difficult times but it does ease it for me, Each day I remind myself that I have my kids and my grandchildren still with me and the love ones I have lost are now pain-free. I am only 52 lol, I lost a sister aged 50 and my twin was 51 so my eldest daughter set me a challenge to get to 53 in July to break the cycle. I am sure she will direct me to keep going after that too :) If you or anyone else needs someone to talk to I am a good listener but I do talk a lot lol. Take care of yourself and keep your chin up :DViewDate:

Should the Government launch a food-rationing scheme?I am a carer on Universal Credit, I have to buy food where it is available so struggling to make my money last the month. I have an egg allergy so cannot randomly just grab something off the shelf, I also have food intolerances. I have a disabled adult daughter with an autoimmune disease and a low immune system that somehow did not qualify as one of the 1.5 million vulnerable people, she lives alone and had to manage while her carer went into isolation with symptoms. My eldest daughter also has an egg allergy and is lactose intolerant. She and her partner (he is a key worker) have quite bad asthma and are raising 2 children (one that is disabled). We are having to hunt for food in 2 separate areas of Tyne and Wear. I managed to get a delivery slot with Asda but received it today minus some vital items because they were out of stock. The sister I care for has a very serious health condition and she shut herself off from the world. I spend my days in self-isolation praying my family can get food and do not fall ill, I am a little luckier than some as one of my sons is with me and is doing the food hunting, however, I see him terrified of bringing the virus home to me as my health is not great but falls a long way short of vulnerable. The food situation is dire and I cannot see it improving while people are allowed to bulk buy. Despite efforts to protect the vulnerable and the elderly, people fall between the cracks and far too many are suffering and have to beg for help!
