Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi FloJo From another retiree I retired a few years ago and after filling my time with volunteering opportunities, due to COVID the activities have basically ceased. However I am still with a lovely group and we visit/phone whatever we can currently..... lovely old folk who are isolated for various reasons. This has been a real boost for me and I am looking forward to developing these friendships soon. Hope you have managed to find things to do too?ViewDate:

Morning from a silver-surfing Yorkshire lass who is spending too many days not speaking to anyone - but the walls.Hi Lottiebell You have an allotment.... Bliss I admire your spirit. I love gardening, not particularly good at it but I try and when something turns out well, such excitement! I do seem to have over eager green fingers where Tomatoes are concerned however! Do you have a gardening club? I would like to attend a meeting at our local one this year COVID Allowing and glean some tips. And reading.... I have quite a broad base of likes..... Harry Potter through to Michelle Obama’s autobiography!! Walking is a real love too. Headlands and hills and beaches. Cornwall And The Lakes are my favourites. Yep, Lockdown is a pain but it’s giving me the opportunity to do all the jobs I need to do, so that hopefully I can escape once they lift the starting gate!ViewDate:

A new beginningHello Moira Well I am sure you will meet lots of people here. What did you do before you retired? It’s pretty rough with the travel restrictions, don’t I know it! I have a camper van and love roaming but that’s a no no currently so it’s decorating followed by gardening for me and then when they take the brakes off, my 4 legged partner and I will be out of those starting gates like racehorsesViewDate:

Realisations after Turning 60Hi Carl T Mmmm 60 ....memories Working like crazy.... dodging bullets from everywhere, supporting family members and loving it! Retired now and looking at the world through clear specs. Yes things have changed, family grown up and away and bereavement too. Now I have time to Volunteer for Local. charities (I am not a do gooder) but I like to help out, meet people and raise funds along the way. Time to do the things I want to do, within reason and piggy bank allowing Try it and see what’s going on around you and then like me, pick up things again after this chaos is sorted. It’s amazing to see how many new acquaintances are out there and some even turn into good friends Go for it, you have made the first move!ViewDate:

For A Better FutureLove to visit and maybe weekend but not to live. It’s too inclusive as a full time idea. Good way to meet friends, find support and tips But I would approach it from a workshop angle.... sounding like a retirement village......ViewDate:

NewbeeHi Jam16 Nice to hear from you. I have been volunteering too Currently with a lovely group called Evergreen and we visit lonely isolated folk 70plus, for a chat and. Cuppa and we have social gatherings a couple of times each year. As lockdown is still with us it’s limited what we can do but a weekly phone call keeps us in touch with our friends. We are delivering a Valentines meal to lots of people this weekend.. it all helps to keep people connected. I was also fundraising for a couple of groups too but the lid is on that currently. And employment.... Majority of the time was spent in Sales, Sales Management with all the facets that go with it Keep up the volunteering, I shall be looking for more projects when we can get out there Be safeViewDate:

Make new friendsHello Jamie44 It’s always good to chat so don’t be lonely, I am sure that there are lots of people out there feeling similar at the strange time in our lives. Please get in touch if you want to chat, but not today as I am currently painting skirting boards and moving furniture around the room. Sounds really exciting doesn’t it?ViewDate:

Make new friendsHello SugieC I am new to Silverline and am just looking around the site, discovering people and seeing what’s happening. My husband died in 2017 and like you I am now starting to see what’s out there. Taken me a while but I am enjoying the experience even thought currently it’s somewhat limited ☺️ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi There Well I’m a newbie too so let’s hope we have some interesting conversations and make some new friends very soon. I’m a Classic FM fan but love The Who and The Moody Blues too. A very diverse mix I have been quite lucky as I have managed to go for a walk and go shopping locally and hopefully soon I can get into the garden without sinking into the soggy lawn! I volunteer for a lovely group called Evergreen who support people over 70 living alone. (I am very nearly one of them ) We can only chat on the phone currently and so I am looking forward to being able to visit my elderly friends again soon. I live in Lincolnshire and it’s a very rural community and I have good friends here and family in the next village. My family are somewhat spreadout and I can’t wait to be able to visit them again. It’s blinking cold here, little snow though....so we might miss it? Hope you won’t feel too cut off now that we have both found the site and let’s look forward to getting to make new friends and finding new interesting things to doViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi Fiona I am new too and feeling similar to yourself but since retiring at the end of 2015 I have had a little more practice at adapting to my new sole circumstances. I love the idea of the stained glass objets d’art, sounds fascinating. Hope to see you on Not on The High St soon
