Silversurfers Book Club Winter 2020/21I found Tidelands a compelling read and followed it up by reading the sequel Dark Tides. I found the style of writing created a sense of time and place and allowed one to learn some key factual historical events with the fictional story. My favourite genre is historical fiction and I have in recent months read all eleven books of the Sir John Fielding mysteries written by Bruce Alexander. The text is written in the spoken style of the 1700's and I found myself totally absorbed into life in London around Bow Street and the City of Westminster at this time. While the mysteries are fictional Sir John Fielding is an historical figure who was a Blind Magistrate known for his ability to carry out his duties in the Bow Street court with fairness and insight.ViewDate:

Will the pandemic put an end to paying with cash? The Pandemic has brought into focus the continuing necessity for cash, and I support its retention wholeheartedly. Nevertheless, whether it has a long term future is debatable. Changes in banking and digital services is an ever-changing landscape and sadly profit over people's needs tends to win the day!ViewDate:

Will you take the Covid-19 vaccine when you are offered it?At this point in time, I would not take the vaccine, there are still too many uncertainties around its effectivity and safety. Rushed jobs rarely achieve good results!
