Hello - looking for like minded friends to chat withHi I live in Tewkesbury Glos. but came up to stay in Ryll.last Septemberwhen there was a break in the pandemic, Stayed at the Prmiere inn on the seafront. However it had to be said that the whole place was dead. Went to Llandudno for the day also, very crowded . Wanted to go by railway to the top of the Great Orm but it was closed had to bus up there. No life in Rhyll. I bet it's a bit more crowded now though.ViewDate:

The 60s ... What did like best about the 60s?It's got to be the music. Having just had a.liver transplant and locked in at home during covid I decided to see if I could use the internet to collect as many 60's music tracks as posdible . I concentrate on the British groups and and singers but I also love the early 60's girl groups like the Ronnettes, Crystals, Shirelles and Supremes. I've now collected every single Beatles. track I can lay my hands on including bootlegs and out takes and every single recording the Stones have made. If you search the internet carefully you can usually get them for only a couple of pounds. Music Magpie is a great place to look. I've now collected the greatest hits albums of nearly every single 60's artist except for the sad singers like Ken.Dodd, Englebert Humperstink . Des. O'Conner and all those middle of the road warbblers. My wife and I also go to as many sixties music weekends at places like Butlins and Pontins as we can. Love the Searchers live. It's a shame that they've now packed it in. Had booked to go to the one at Butins in January but it's now been cancelled due to covid. I LoungingsofaViewDate:

So Whose in a Band?Great to hear from another aging rocker. I think I can beat you as I'm in my 70's and still play in a band infact two bands under the same name. Some members belong to each band. One plays live and the other concentrates on recording depending on whose available. I play bass. We're called the Sofaz (Sad Old Facts And Zoe) who's our occasional female vocalist. We generally play in pubs and clubs. Our drummer Chris also belongs to Stormchild (see internet) They were big in the 70's. Our lead guitarist once played alongside Faiport Convention but he's on off to live with his German wife. Also our old lead vocalist has. decided to go off and sing medieval materials instead. I think he's showing his age. We've made three c.d.'s and a live recording. We play anything. When live it's usually rock covers but when doing studio stuff it's softer stuff. My sons a musical multi-instrumental wizard and records most of our backing tracks but drummer Chris has a recording studio in a shed in his garden. Myself I like Zep, Cream, Stones and I collect rare Beatles records because that's where the money is to be made. Keep rocking and keep safe LoungingsofaViewDate:

New membersHi, I' m 70 and I'm a retired teacher but I did work for 10 years for Tescos as a checkout assistant but last November they made me and about 10 other older colleagues redundant as they said that we had to multitask and not just do checkouts. That's O.K. if you're fully fit and can bend up and down and get on your knees all day long which I couldn't as I was suffering from non alcoholic liver cirrosis, but Tescos don't give a shit. They even have me a large bottle of whisky as leaving present....think about it ? We were all on contracts as well. They replaced us all with young kids on no contract basic wages So much for loyalty and hard work. Considering that the Tescos staff have worked through the whole pandemic and haven't received any bonus from the gold digging management who've made astronomical profits. That's typical.ViewDate:

Vote for your favourite Rolling Stones hit songI'm a massive Stones fan and have literally got everything that they have ever recorded in C.D. I love the recent single they had out 'Doom and Gloom'. It's back to the Stones of old with Keith's strident guitar lead. Have a listen if you've never come across it. 'Gimmee Shelter' was voted the best stones song on a recent internet poll.ViewDate:

Which is your favourite Beatles Number 1 Single? The problem is that the best record of all 'Strawberry Fields Forever / Penny Lane' was prevented from getting to the top by that utter rubbish of a dirge by Engleburk Humpershite ' Release Me'. How can you compare a a masterpiece with a load of carp like that !!!!! Sorry about the language but it's a bit like comparing Trump with good old Obama, there's no comparison. -
