Terrytop's bio
Been around the block a few times, had my fair share of ups and downs, thank God that I don't have the burdens of so many responsibilities anymore. Just me on my onesome to think about and look after - for a change. -

Which is your favourite oldest UK TV programme still on air?Of course we all know and still to this day love and cherish our Corrie. I so fondly remember watching Ken and the old battleaxe Ena and Minnie, etc. in black and white. Corrie has trancended the decades. Bring back the series from the very start on Netflix or some other channel, I reckon it might just be a really big hit, similar to our dell boys and dada army etc.! Wow, from put 4 pence in the red phone box up the road or in the next street from us and before we had our first phone at home when I was a boy and still living at home with mum and dad and with my other siblings, to make a call. Nowadays we have our smart phones and can call anywhere in the World even when out and about. How technology has changed so much, what will the next 10 20 or even for as long as we have had Corrie in the future. The mind boggles, wish I was a couple of decades or more younger. Lets hope that we find cures for more diseases (with Crispr genetics probably) and find a way for more peace in our awful escalating tribal wars and agressions.ViewDate:

Do you think we need tougher lockdown restrictions?Disgusting how so many people are still not wearing masks and not social distancing while out and about in shopping areas throughout December and January. I say make these safety measures mandatory, and if the cops cant cope, we could all start taking photos (but beware of the danger in doing this) and send the pics to our local newspapers and ask if they would put them up on a 'name and shame' page. Maybe the prats may take some notice if we could expose them and hopefully get their friends and relatives to give them a talking to and a good bullocking...ViewDate:

Are you worried that other people are not following Covid rules?WELL SAID, make masks mandatory everywhere outdoors I say. Yes, the cops would not be able to cope with the breaches, but we could take photos and send to our local newspapers for some 'name and shame' and hopefully embaresing rough justiceViewDate:

Are you worried that other people are not following Covid rules?Ah bless, and hope all get well soon. I get my shot tomorrow and I have been getting very scared, disgusted and afraid when out shopping. Just two weeks ago when I was shopping along our very small and narrow side shops a woman brushed past me on my mobility scooter. And, I estimate that roughly about 40% of all people out and about in our local town are not wearing masks, and not following the distancing rules. And this is my observations for over December and January. How many more will have to die because of these morons. Not just in Sainsburys etc., I suggest that it becomes mandatory for everyone in any public area have to wear masks. Take note Boris!ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?Ooops, I made a mistake, I read the question wroung: I DO support freedom of speech, of course. BUT NOT from raving radical extremist mainiacs who have a big following when they say things like: 'And the Christian blood will flow down the streets and into the drains', as per 'hook' was preaching (and I think it was in London around 10 years ago?) , AND WITH OUR POLICE SHUTTING OFF THE ROAD for them! Disgusting...ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?I was talking about all the stuff you see on t.v. where one seemingly monoganist family have herds of children, and that seems the norm, BUT they are knocking out all these kids that the country cannot afford to feed, give health services and education to etc, and they EXPECT as is history that we are funding that culture.ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?Re 'Admin Costs'. I saw a documentary on t.v. a while ago that was stating that only 16p net in the £ is left for the charities after the fat cat bosses employed in the 'BIG BUSINESS' of charities. With all the fancy company cars great holidays and pension plans... Area manager, district, and regional employed staff. About time the U.K. charities scams were exposed!!!ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?US wealthy??? Speak for yourself if you really reckon that = WRONG in the REAL World! Our NHS was buried in lack of funding and cut-backs as were schools and housing etc. well before the Covid crisis. NOW we face en-mass a great many job losses and unemployment (and so sadly small) businesses that will never recover. Can we really afford to send big swathes of money and aid to other counties when a great many for example small business owners will be going bankrupt and losing their homes. Charity begins at home!ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home? Many years ago when I travelled quite a lot around France and Italy as a commercial/industrial buyer of parts I once got into a casual and friendly conversation in the bar in the hotel that I was staying overnight in at the time. One small part of the conversation, and with a very educated and well travelled French and mature man went something like this: I commented about EU membership, and all the ins and outs for different countries, with benefits of belonging, and monetary disadvantages for some others, when he gave me a wry smile and quitely said, and with a little chuckle: 'The problem that you brits have is that you play cricket' and when I looked puzzled he explained thus: What you agree to, you do, whereas we just agree to everything, and then just don't do it'.ViewDate:

OH, and there is the taking of the Wife/Husband (or 'Secretary'). Erm.....ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?True in one sense, which is that of our 'Crusades' (which sounds like a proud thing to have done - but in fact very disgusting) when we set out around the World to concour and line our pockets, chopping any and all of the indiginious population that got in our way. Raping their land and people, and crushing them into defeat. (Roman Empire, Hitler and so many others.) SHAME ON YOU YOUR MAJESTY, AND YOUR PREDESSORS!!! P.S. to that, your billions of £sss worth Diamons glitter so bright, as does the "impressive" showing of your gold, and the funding of all the hangers on... Shame on you, and as one Queen once saidin history in a reply to being told 'the population has no bread', the reply was 'then let them eat cake'. Still the same out of touch today in their unreal world. I am pro monarchy, but their self indulgence is not in tough with the World of today. We called our stamping on such countries 'The Commonwealth', and WE STILL DO! But 'pay back' too late for all that, by decades, or even a century in some cases... Yes, we stamped on many countries, but then again we brought them a terriffic amount of prosperity, jobs, structure and wealth... Quid pro quo in the long run...ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?REF: 'Imagine if we were really poor and living under a government that didn't care one jot for our lives but another country was providing medicine and food. We would be so thankful.' And so you should be, BUT if in your country couples were haveing 7 8 9 12 kids, you would only have yourself to blame if you could not afford them. As I said before: Ref China. No more than ONE baby per couple. That would be GREAT for Africa!!! Then they may well seriously prosper and might be able to support themselves and not need charity from the west.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsWhat about Andy, I reckon he should be arrested for his part in the US scandel, he clearly lied and lied in his embarrasing tv interview, and the nation very easily saw through him! He said that he did not recall the photo and of knowing the young lady in the photos, shame on you! And as for his stupid lame of a brother, well that is another story...ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsHi, I actually know quite a lot about: "The Duchy of Cornwall, a large business enterprise run by Prince Charles, refuses to pay its taxes" I used to live close to area for some years, and their stuff was supposed and purported to be 'the finest, all green, free range and all that sort of stuff. I think Mrs Bouchet from the TV series used to shop with them, if you get my drift... The estates were grand and pompous, all mouth and trousers, prices for goods exhorbitant, and at the time I reckond all quite a rip off and a farce. Well, after Diana Charlie must have spent a FORTUNE on the awful person, and ugly C. What on earth did, does he see in her when Diana was so beautiful, inside as well as out. Now C has a royal title, all an inside job and all so totally disgusting!!! Charlie is a fraud, he may resemble his uncle Lord Mountbatten, but in character he is the opposite. Lazy, pompous, vain, over spoilt, naive, and not much more than a taker...Oh and a real wimp. Hope the MIBS don't read this ;-((ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsOnce retired I believe it is the duty of goverment to respect all the taxes and all we have contributed throughout our working lives, and respect us by allowing 'free' public transport, and of course tv licenses, and MORE! Means tested, maybe, coz the fat cats should not be given the same, that would be totally unfair. Reminds me of the Poll Tax, the downfall of Mrs. T.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner Comments...And I say this because I SHOP AHEAD! I save a really significant amount of money by keeping at least one spare item of every day items, such as bleach and other cleaners, tea, coffee, sugar cooking oil, and so much other stuff. When I run out of an item I get the spare out of the cupboard (which I got for a bargain price at the time of purchase), and put in my 'Shop Ahead' list which I keep with me when I go out. It can be quite fun trawling around the shops looking for items on my list, and quite a lifting experience when bargains are snapped up, to be placed in my reserved cupboard. It is not an exageration to say that I reckon I save around 25% on all relevant items with my 'Shop Ahead' strategy. Shooping around is for when we NEED something, then we have to pay the piper's price. Get listing all the stuff you have not much of and go on the hunt!ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?A BIG and very sad problem is that many charities are now fincially bloated with management taking a big wedge of their incomes. It has been said that when charity shops sell stuff only 16p in the £ actually gets to the chity fund for their use. Take away the management costs etc. etc. and we givers are flogging a dead horse.ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home?Well said!!! We in the West are in a way encouraging Africa and India etc by continuing to turn a blind eye to them having so many babies per female and their partner(s) that the family and goverment simply cannot afford. Charitable money might be better spent on family planning education and more widely available contraception. Only then would these needy countries begin to self support themselves; and they may then be able to prosper more like the west with so much less drain on their economy. One baby per couple in China, the same for the third world countries would do wonders for their economies.ViewDate:
