Executor and BeneficiaryThe short answer is No. Your brother can't get a Grant of Probate without your consent. However the form that you have received may very well be an application to enable him to apply for a Grant of Probate in his name only with power reserved for you to apply at a later date. Do not sign this form as you will be consenting to your brother having absolute control of the process. If you don't understand the forms you have received take them to a Solicitor and ask him to explain them to you. There is a mechanism which is known as a Caveat which puts the Probate Registry on Notice that you object to Probate being granted to your brother . It shouldn't be necessary to use this mechanism because your brother won't be allowed to apply for a Grant of Probate without you being a joint executor unless you sign away your 'rights' as mentioned above. I hope this helps..ViewDate:

My Mother's WillI think your Mother should not have left you with this dilemma. If you value your connection/ relationship with your sisters, then the only way to preserve that is to split the money equally 3 ways. Anything less will leave them unhappy. BUT if you don't want to continue a relationship with them then I think you should give them less. Perhaps £50,000 or £100,000 each because whatever the figure might be they will not be satisfied. There is not much difference between £250,000 and £333,000. The loss of your connection with your sisters comes down to a price of about £80,000.ViewDate:

Lockdown and the affect it has on usI think we are the lucky ones. If I still had a mortgage to pay and children at school I would definitely be having sleepless nights.ViewDate:

Made redundant at the age of 50Hi. Surely you couldn't go far wrong seeking out a driving job. It's not all zero hours and poor pay. I took a driving job after I retired and find it really enjoyable. Good LuckViewDate:
