Would you like to see Woolworths back on the High Street?I think Woolies would fit nicely back into the high street. I miss it very much. We had a local one and one in the city centre. The staff were fantastic local ones knew what was going on in the area and you always felt like you could stay all day. I have been trying to think of a store where I could now go locally and get everything I wanted except for large groceries. I couldn't think of one now you have to go to a few. In Woolies you could clothe your children, by hats and scarves for winter , umbrellas for a rainy day. Pick up a bigger saucepan or casserole dish to create in your kitchen, knives and forks to eat the food. Paint for your walls , d.i.y items. A CD or video to keep you happy at the end of a long day. The Pick and Mix oh yes, lots of other sweets oh and Easter Eggs at Christmas LOL. Lights, bulbs to see with. Plants in summer. Drinks to quench the thirst. Bath towels. I could go on forever I think. Pound stores really are no competition you pay for what you get and what you bought at Woolies lasted forever ! I hope it comes back and I hope it stays.ViewDate:

Would you like to see Woolworths back on the High Street?I think the difference being that if you bought something from Woolworths it lasted for a very very long time. Buy from any of the Pound stores and lets face it , its not going to last five minutes. Robert Dyas stores very good but overly priced on some of their items. I don't know what it was about Woolworths I think it was local and you went in there and got a friendly welcome and your kids were safe to wander around with out too much worries. The staff knew them and kept an eye on them. These days shops just concentrate on getting you in and getting your money customers are a pile of pennies not a person. If he can get the placing of the stores right and try and recreate something of what they had I think he will be onto a winner . It just needs people to go in and support the stores. I know I would it reminds me of far happier days.
