Should the humble Ploughman's lunch become gender neutral?I’m surprised they’re calling them ‘pickled’ onions. Doesn’t that offend a recovering alcoholic? OK just joking!ViewDate:

Should the humble Ploughman's lunch become gender neutral?Let’s take this to its logical, though ridiculous, conclusion. Mary Poppins played by a male. Sherlock Holmes played by a woman. Women-only colleges open to men. If anyone doesn’t like the idea of a Ploughman’s lunch being so called, tell them to clear off and eat somewhere else.ViewDate:

Are you able to get a face-to-face doctor appointment?Last year I needed to see a GP but there were no appointments for 16 days. I completed the E-Consult form which advised I see a GP or contact NHS 111. I was 87 in the queue on 111. I went to a local pharmacy and, acting on their advice my problem was cured in four days. In a town of 32000 we have 7 doctors. A town 15 miles away with the same population has 21 doctors. In my Suffolk town we are always at the back of the queue for everything. No one cares.ViewDate:

Are you able to get a face-to-face doctor appointment? At my local surgery staff are reported to be exhausted. 7 GPs for 32,000 people. They keep building homes but no more doctors, dentists and schools. People get angry but there’s no-one to complain to because no-one cares. Senior managers hide from the public while front-line staff bear the brunt. I have realised that I have to treat my own ailments but heaven help me if I have anything seriously wrong. The country is in the worst state I have seen in over sixty years.ViewDate:

Are you able to get a face-to-face doctor appointment?I recently had an itchy skin rash. It was uncomfortable and prevented me sleeping. Couldn’t get a GP appointment in under 16 days. I completed the e-consult form, which advised me to see my GP or call NHS 111. On 111 I was 87th in the queue. I went to my local pharmacy, followed the advice of the helpful assistant and the rash disappeared in four days. Diabetic healthcare for my wife in our town is almost non-existent. Ironically, the last Health Secretary is our M.P. We have 7 GPs for 32,000 people.ViewDate:

The Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts dies aged 80I have been a Stones fan since 1968. Without Mick or Keef or Charlie, it isn’t the Stones. I think they should retire gracefully and just accept it’s over. Maybe a last double CD of re-recordings of their favourite songs. We have hardly seen them in UK for a long time anyway. RIP Charlie, much respect to you and yours.ViewDate:

Would you be happy with a driving curfew over the age of 70?I was the driver assessor for a local Community Transport group. Volunteers drive cars and 16-seater mini-buses. The general standard of driving among the older men was not very good. There was an element of classroom work, including reviewing the Highway Code, with multiple choice test at the end. Ignorance of the Highway Code was astonishing. The driving standard among the lady volunteers was generally good. Often among the men I encountered the attitude that they had been driving for years and there was nothing they needed to know. I suggest every driver over 70 should have to undergo a driving assessment at a driving school, and a classroom session to remind them of the Highway Code.ViewDate:

Queen wishes England team well ahead of Euro 2020 finalI don’t mind footie fans following their sport, but why must we have so much TV time dedicated to it? There’s weeks of this, and tennis, but nothing much on TV for those not interested in sport. Nothing but repeats, game shows, films on a loop and soaps. Football is only a game. The fate of the nation doesn’t depend on the result, and the players aren’t courageous, they’re not heroes. A sense of perspective please!
