These DaysVery true but so very, very sad. I now make a point of congratulating parents I see actually interacting with their children, but unfortunately it doesn’t happen often.ViewDate:

Should motorists be fined for parking on the pavement? As people have to park both sides of our road we really don’t have a choice as bin lorry’s etc wouldn’t be able to get past. Most people are considerate and don’t take up the whole pavement so that there is room for prams etc to get past.ViewDate:

Will you be pumpkin carving or buying Halloween treats this year? Our village has said that children should not be knocking on doors this year, instead people are being asked to display pumpkins in their front windows or on doorsteps. They children can then go on a pumpkin hunt with parents/guardians and the adults give them treats each time they spot a pumpkin. It seems to be an idea that has taken hold in a few areas, the children still get to 'do' Halloween but also keep everyone safe from the virus.ViewDate:

Facts about Princess Anne as she turns 71Didn't like her very much up to us both being in our teens but since then I have seen another side and got to really like her. Think she is the best of the lot (Queen and Prince Philip top the poll naturally :-) ).ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months?Know what you mean with online shopping, I tried yesterday evening - no slots for nearly two weeks and when I managed to book one then I couldn't order any staple foods as they were 'out of stock'! Hubby is over 70 and has a few health issues so our daughter, who works for NHS, has suggested that he should try to stay away from people as much as possible - only problem with that is that I go out shopping, mix with the public and could potentially bring the virus back! We've decided on the keep calm and carry on approach :-)ViewDate:

My angel who wasn't to beThe tears are flowing right now. Our son and his wife were ecstatic August last year when they broke the news that they were expecting. Sadly it wasn't to be and they lost a much wanted angel very early on in the pregnancy, nothing we could say or do would ease their pain at the time and we had to kiss them goodbye when they flew back to Australia after the sad event. My heart ached for them. However their prayers were answered in August this year when they welcomed our first little granddaughter into the world ( we have three grandsons from our daughter), we are all set to meet her later this year and from all the we have seen of her so far she is an absolute joy.ViewDate:

Our Corner ShopLovely memories, we had two corner shops very close for groceries etc, a newsagent, chippy and greengrocers. Used to love getting loose biscuits from the shops from those big tubs that the factory used to make.ViewDate:

The English question: What is the nation's identity?I would agree that schools are constantly trying to hit 'targets', but it is not the schools that are failing our children it is the governments who impose these targets, assessments, curriculums etc. Most schools are trying their best but swimming against the tide of rubbish that gets piled on them from successive Ministers that haven't got a clue about education or children.ViewDate:
