First time on here Say helloI am also happily married and semi-retired from the diary business. We still work long days but much shorter without hours in dairy;. We are rural and do not have alot of time to find like minded people.. I like cottage life (week or so since 1920) but seldom have time. Like to talk about life and stuff. I know lame word but could not come up with another.ViewDate:

Lonely and vulnerable and looking to chatI am rural in Canada and find what you say to be true with the new generation. No one wants the new comer basked like they used to. I cannot always be there but will talk if I can.ViewDate:

Hello - looking for like minded friends to chat withThat was quite poetic. I have spend early mornings with a cup of tea looking at the glory of the dawn too. However only as a farmer, but as a solitary human I love to sleep in and see the wonders of the stars and a full moon. My husband and I are total opposites as he loves to see the sun rise and the new day begin. But once the work begins we are on the same page. Your reference to the oak reminds me of when we had a tornado go through our farm. The clean up crew wanted to take the oak in the middle of our field. I said no. It lasted this long and likely longer than I would, so leave it as it stands.ViewDate:

Hello - looking for like minded friends to chat withI am 58 and a farmer since I married at 21 yrs. we have just stopped milking and I have found that 80 hours a week left me with little to no friendships. We have a lot of people we knew but no real close relationships. Unlike you we get to town once a week. My father worked for Hydro and was a tree climber. That is a dangerous job. Congrats for doing it for so long.ViewDate:

Morning from a silver-surfing Yorkshire lass who is spending too many days not speaking to anyone - but the walls.I am also in semi retirement. But from farming. Which basically means from 80 hours to 40...but it seems so odd. My 0nly child, though close (hour away) tries to keep in touch. I do volunteer work, but have no real close friends because 34 years of hard work left little spare time.. I love nature walks. helping the underdog and just talking to anyone. Much to the ire of people in my daughters elevator I am sure.ViewDate:

I am new to all this - looking for like minded membersI am just in the ready to retire phase and as a farmer I am in rural life. I have lots to do, but sometimes find life is to fast for me. City friends are up on all the technical connections but I am not. I love to see things they miss. Like the other day on a trip to the back of the farm, I saw a doe and two fawns. But as a farmer I have missed social connection and am not sure who will understand my way of life. I am in Northern Ontario,Canada. But feel like I understand this story,
