Win a Winter Escape Experience at The Grand, YorkA one night stay isn’t much use if you live more than about 100m away which most people do from York. So thanks but no thanks. A nice opportunity for those who do live closer though so good luck to all of you.ViewDate:

Do you agree with the decision to axe HS2 northern leg? What happened to putting in a tender for a job with your total guaranteed price? Having a contract stating that price which can’t be increased and including financial penalties if the job goes over the stated completion date? Any company given the ability to increase the price during the work will do exactly that, it’s a joke. Central government and local Councils always pay through the nose for every job they do, way more than anyone else would. Why is that? Of course it’s because it’s taxpayers money so civil servants seems to think it’s ok to spend it without making absolutely sure that value for money is paramount and for contractors to make far more profit when doing jobs for central or local authorities than in any other situation. No individual would allow themselves to be ripped off in this way but tax payers get no say in any of this as all political parties play fast and loose with public money. Until we return to proper price tendering for all projects to protect the public purse no huge building proposals of the likes of HS2 should get the go ahead. If a price for the whole of a big job like that can’t be given then it could be broken down into sections. Allowing prices to just spiral exponentially is a disgrace and should never be allowed to happen. What we have witnessed is total government incompetence so thank goodness a halt to this farce has at last been called.ViewDate:

Do you think that the speed limit should be reduced to 20mph on all urban roads?I simply don’t believe you when you say you hardly have to take your eyes off the road to stay at 20mph. On an open road it’s extremely difficult to stay doing such a low speed so one’s eyes are constantly flicking to the speedometer. Older, less luxurious cars do not have cruise control! Why don’t you just make every car have a person with a red flag walking in front of it, You might not be eager to get about to make a living but thousands of others are, consider other people and their needs in this rather than your Utopian view of the world.ViewDate:

Do you think that the speed limit should be reduced to 20mph on all urban roads?People will go out of business with these ridiculous laws and it’s hard enough to keep a business going these days anyway without making it harder to move goods and services around quickly. Also, drivers will know how hard it is to keep to a very low speed, you have to keep looking at the speedometer which is then taking your eyes off the road, it’s dangerous. More and more control from gov and authorities in every area of our lives, the UK is becoming a fascist state!ViewDate:

Do you think that the speed limit should be reduced to 20mph on all urban roads? That’s the whole point, in the 21st century we need to move people and goods around faster than happened 150 years ago it’s called progress!ViewDate:

Do you believe the Assisted Dying Bill should be passed?Doctors have been using euthanasia in the UK for years. Do not resuscitate notices appear on medical notes or Docs tell relatives that they can't continue treatment any longer due to a probable poor outcome. It's actually quite hard to work out how they walk the line keeping them inside the law as it stands. Medical staff can't force anyone to eat or drink so many old people actually die of dehydration or in some cases death even comes via starvation. The end of life experience can be very frightening so anything which makes it less traumatic should be welcomed. I would definitely choose a few days or weeks less in this world if I could leave it with some dignity.ViewDate:

Sleeping next to a loud snorer? Here’s how to finally get some peace at nightSusan, from what I have heard only extremely strong relationships can withstand the emotional distance creator that is separate bedrooms. Sarah, sadly a lot of people snore when lying on their back or side so no amount of making them move makes any difference. Thank you for your replies.ViewDate:

Sleeping next to a loud snorer? Here’s how to finally get some peace at nightI thought you were going to offer some much needed advice on where to get the best value surgery to cure snoring. None of those things mentioned is a long term cure for snoring and to suggest that people sleep in separate bedrooms is appalling. That's the first step towards the end of a relationship! There are private health answers to a permanent cure for snoring, a simple operation on the throat. I understand it only takes about 1/2 hour and recovery is within a week. The trouble is, as it isn't done on the NHS where's the best place to go for great care at a cost which doesn't break the bank? If you could offer some suggestions and guidance specifically on that it would be a great deal more helpful. Thank you.ViewDate:
