Playground MemoriesI fell off the climbing frame in our school playground. Of course there was no soft padding in those days and our playground surface was tarmac. I landed on my hands and knees and my injuries were so bad that I had to have two weeks off school while my wounds healed. 59 years later,my kneecaps are still aren't right!ViewDate:

Should menopause be classed as a disability?I'm retired but I remember being told by the reasonable adjustments team that I needed a doctor's letter to support my request for a fan when I was suffering hot flushes. My line manager agreed that this was ridiculous and, to spare me the expense of getting a letter, referred me to occupational health instead. They charged £400 to write a report recommending that I be given a fan. The fan I was consequently given cost £25!ViewDate:

Have you adopted a ‘life is too short’ attitude? My dad had to retire early for medical reasons and wasn't able to enjoy his retirement, so I was determined that I would enjoy mine. I retired at 60 and have been having the time of my life ever since.ViewDate:

Donny Osmond or David Cassidy – who was your pin-up?David Cassidy! I liked Donny Osmond too but David was my main crush. I even had a David Cassidy pillowcase, which I kissed (very chastely) before going to sleep.ViewDate:

Why cats make great petsI've always had cats; I love them! My current cat is 14 years old, fat, lazy and very spoilt. I did think about getting a dog when I retired but they are hard work with all the walking, training etc. Cats are very independent and easy to fit into your life as they don't need much other than a litter tray, food, and a few toys. The only downside is the amount of hair they leave on you and everything else in the house!ViewDate:

5 of the best fruit trees to grow in potsA few years ago, I bought an apple and a cherry tree which were sold as "ideal for pots". The cherry tree soon burst out of its pot and eventually grew to 12 feet tall and almost as wide, The apple ended up a similar size, Sadly, I had to have them removed last year as they were just too big for my tiny garden and nothing else could grow in the shade they cast.ViewDate:

Are you in favour of ‘digital IDs’?I cab see pros and cons. It would be helpful to have everything in one place but my concern is that it could easily be hacked or stolen. Also, technology is not infallible so what happens if it goes wrong?ViewDate:

Should we bring machine learning into mainstream teaching?AI terrifies me (none of the films I've seen about it end well for humans!) but children today have grown up with it and are therefore much more receptive to it. Sadly, I think they'll find it more engaging than a teacher.ViewDate:

Should masks be reintroduced to stop the spread of winter illnesses?I can't wear a mask for medical reasons. I've recently had Covid for the second time and I tested twice a week and stayed at home until I'd tested negative because I didn't want to risk infecting anyone else; however, there will always be selfish and thoughtless people who don't care about others and will refuse to wear masks or stay at home. Many people refused to wear masks when it was mandatory during the pandemic, so I don't think there's any point making it mandatory again.ViewDate:

Is it ever okay to damage property as a protest tactic?I hope they used oil-free paint! Damaging/destroying other people's property or preventing people from going about their everyday business is never right. It doesn't help their cause because it turns the very people that they are trying to get their message across to against them. I have some sympathy for their cause because we are in an environmental crisis but I don't agree with their methods.ViewDate:

8 subtle signs of heart disease you might not know aboutI have atrial fibrillation, a type of arrythmia, in which the heart occasionally beats too fast. It causes a lot of these symptoms, particularly fatigue, shortness of breath and excessive sweating. I'm on medication and am able to live a fairly active life. Heart disease can be treated if caught early, so it's very important to get yourself checked out if you have any symptoms.ViewDate:

Should 'Best Before' dates on fresh products be scrapped? What they should also do is get rid of pre-packaged fruit and veg and sell it loose like they did when I was younger. That would also cut down on a lot of food waste. I live on my own and can't get through 2.5kg of potatoes, for example, before they go off.ViewDate:

How can you make your small garden feel bigger? My garden is tiny, only 20 feet by 15 feet, but I have a cherry tree and an apple tree. Both were sold as patio trees, suitable for containers, and I was told that they wouldn't grow taller than about 6 feet; clearly no one told the trees that! The cherry tree is currently over 12 feet tall and the apple is about 10 feet! They both produce loads of fruit each year, so I'm not too bothered but it's a reminder to be careful what you buy for a small garden.ViewDate:

Looking for like minded friends to chat with onlineHi Topsyturvy, I'm a widow too and my husband also did the driving (I never learned). I'm recently retired and my children are both adults and have left home, Have you thought about joining some clubs etc? I've joined my local branch of the University of the Third Age (U3A) and now I'm hardly ever at home! If you've never heard of U3A before, it's an organisation for retired people and has various interest groups (different branches offer different activities) The groups are all run by U3A members and are very wide ranging. I'm a member of our branch's belly dancing group. I'm also a member of the film club, the board games club, the dining club and a group for members who are widowed, separated or divorced and live on their own. You can do as little or as much as you like. It's a good way to get out of the house and socialise, although some activities are currently online.ViewDate:

Panic buying: Psychologists explain why drivers are rushing to fill their petrol tanksIt's a vicious cycle. People are told that there is a shortage (irrespective of whether there is or not) so they panic buy, which causes more shortages. If everyone bought their normal amount, there would be enough to go round.ViewDate:

Should over 50s be going to nightclubs?I've just been to my first music festival at the age of 60. My friends and I, who are all 60 or over, had a great time. I think that's because we were there to see the bands and listen to the music rather than get drunk or take drugs as we saw many of the younger people doing. We were all very stiff and sore the next day but we're planning to go back next year.ViewDate:

Will you continue wearing a face mask if the measure is scrapped?I am exempt as I have asthma and a heart condition which also affects my breathing but I try to wear a mask whenever I can and I observe social distancing and wash/sanitise my hands regularly. I've also had both vaccines. As jeanmark says, masks are not a form of social control but are worn to protect others. My health issues mean that I would probably be severely affected if I caught Covid. I have friends and relatives who've had Covid and my boss' father died from it. I certainly wouldn't want to be responsible for passing it on to a loved one or even a complete stranger.ViewDate:
