JoyInSutton's bio
Married with no children, still working but only because of the Government changes!
Hobbies all centred around being active, and love a long walk in the country with my dog Hattie a Lakeland Terrier.
Live by the mantra 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' and consider myself a survivor. Like to travel, have a yearning to visit more parts of the UK which I have neglected by visiting other parts of the world.

Are you worried that other people are not following Covid rules? At a recent Parish Council meeting we were advised of the number of lockdown breaches in our two small villages. Over the previous six weeks there were 4 in my tiny hamlet of 52 houses and the same in our linked larger village. These were all gatherings of several households. The police were angry and disappointed at having to come out to these breaches.ViewDate:

Win a Holiday for Two to Canada for Your Nominated NHS Worker! My friend has twin daughters Hannah and Rosie Ibbotson they are both key workers, one a nurse and the other as a carer. These girls go happily to their jobs, knowing their lives and that of their families could be at risk. Both work in Central Birmingham in high risk units. It would be amazing if they won.ViewDate:

Will the new 'sugar tax' make a difference?I would like to think this would but I have reservations. I am amazed that parents aren't educated enough to understand the detrimental impact of sugar on health. I've seen the TV advertising about sugary drinks. Is it pressure from their children that stops them making the right choices?ViewDate:

Considering laser eye surgery? Here’s everything you need to knowI've had Lens Replacement surgery and for 12 months it was fine, then one lens wrinkled and I had to have laser surgery. I am now waiting for NHS treatment as it has wrinkled again, the clinic I had the initial treatment with wanted to charge me a further £1500 and when I refused to pay I had no other avenue. However, my GP referred me to hospital, I have severe blurred vision in one eye. Will have treatment in a few months to rectify this. I knew the risks but really regret having it done now, however, it was lovely to be free of specs for the first time in 40+ years!ViewDate:

Are the youth of today in too much of a hurry to turn grey?I guess it depends on why you think it's a problem, I have been every colour on a hairdressers chart. Horrible salt and pepper colour in reality so I chose to be silver a few years ago. I think this trend makes it rather cool to be grey.ViewDate:

Has the media become too judgemental?I hate the unkind comments made in magazines, papers and social media sites. Young girls and boys are so easily influenced. I guess if you live your life in the public domain you learn to ignore it. I still live by the principle if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing.ViewDate:

Should the Winter Fuel Allowance be means tested?I have worked for 44 years and never been unemployed. I have paid my taxes and have a small pension which will come to me, rather later than I thought. But I am happy to give my fuel payment up if it could be put to better use elsewhere,ViewDate:

Should the Winter Fuel Allowance be means tested?Anyone with a big pension should be able to afford their fuel bills. I don't think this should be open to all, We have to look at ways of tightening the public purse.ViewDate:

Would you like to see Woolworths back on the High Street?Do we really need Woolworths back? What gap would it fill on the High Street, am not really against but I don't see the point if it went into administration before.ViewDate:

Should 'INACTIVE' over-50s go back to work? This makes my blood boil, really these MPs do not have a clue and are only seeking to reduce the benefits bill any way possible. Like others I will be working an extra 6 years before I get my pension. I do not believe that the number of inactive over 50s quoted exists or is able to do the jobs they think might be created by Brexit. What hare brained scheme will they come up with next!ViewDate:
