SAPWanderer's bio
I retired at 50 specifically so l could travel the world. That mean s l am free to travel anywhere at any time.
I use 'home exchanging' + 'car exchanging' as my main method of travel as it keeps costs down. I have been doing this for the past 7 years but my wife is finding travelling 11 months out of 12 each year for the past 7 years a bit too taxing and now wants to 'stay home' whilst l travel. That is why l am now looking for travel companion(s) to travel the world with.
I live in both the UK (just outside Greater London) and in Australia (in Perth) spending about 50% in each country.
I like to travel in a mixture of ways. In 2013 l travelled around China on a 25 day tour but added on an extra 20 days travelling 'solo' then went on a cruise of the Norwegian Fijords, In 2014 l travelled from Nairobi to Cape Town on a 2 month overlanding tour followed by a 10 cruise of the South Pacific that departed Sydney. The rest of the time l am usually travelling using home exchanging as my main travel method.
I love camping and hiking so l go camping as often as l can. I also love backpacking and that is something l also do a lot of. I am definitely not a 5 star traveler, instead l opt for a number of travel options. My main methods of travelling are that l travel around English speaking countries (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, etc) plus all of Europe using 'home exchanging; and then l travel around the rest of the world using organized 'back packing or over-landing tours'. These two 'approaches' to travelling enable my to travel 365 days of the year for a much lower cost than any other means of travelling l have found to date.
