Does the inclusion of calories influence your menu choice?I have heard from folks who personally or whose children are struggling with recovery from eating disorders that this is not at all helpful to them as it triggers their obsessions around food and sets back recovery.ViewDate:

Should we rule out imported chlorinated chicken from the USA?Ask yourself why they feel the need to do this? My understanding is that hygiene standards in food production in the US are poor, food poisoning cases are proportionally higher. We should only import from places who have the same standards, or higher, than we do. Better still support UK farmers. Food prices will rise but we can look at eating less meat and maybe more beans, pulses etc for our cheaper protein sources.ViewDate:

Are newspaper stories to blame for destroying lives?Time for society as a whole to show kindness. The media and our politicians should lead the charge. Those who buy the papers that publish such stories are complicit - the Mail, Express, Sun et al only publish these stories because they sell papers.ViewDate:

Are you concerned about the economic impact of Brexit?Lot's of sweeping statements in your response too! Suffice to say one of my sources has a strong financial and legal background in global business and is not a political or media person. I appreciate there as many good brains on your side of the argument and as many 'liars' - Johnson, Gove, Farage to name but three and then let's not forget the Daily Mail. I won't engage further as I realise we both take opposing views and we will be unlikely to change each other's minds. However, I respect your right to hold those views.ViewDate:

Are you concerned about the economic impact of Brexit?I admire your optimism and am pleased by the good fortune you are experiencing. There are many others not so fortunate. As to the implied criticisms of our young people I find that to be rather sad. My experience of working with young people in the last decade has been quite different as they hold down menial jobs to fund their way through education, work without pay to get the experience employers demand but refuse to pay for and then spend months job hunting getting no useful feedback when they are unsuccessful. We clearly have very different world views, so as I said before we will agree to disagree.ViewDate:

Are you concerned about the economic impact of Brexit?Thank you for replying Lionel. We will have to agree to disagree. I am not sure where the prosperity you refer to is taking place, I see little or no evidence of anything other than limbo on the part of business as it holds its breath to see what will happen. On top of that the disintegration of public services thanks to austerity. There are plenty of jobs but very few full time, well paid jobs or careers for our young people. I see Brexit leading us towards the end of a queue that has Europe, the USA and China at the front.ViewDate:

Are you concerned about the economic impact of Brexit? The clear message is that Brexit will wreck our economy leaving us isolated. It will take decades to recover from the mess created by Tory party in fighting and cowardly leaders. Our children and their children will suffer. Our generation had best hope we don't need social care in our declining years. The irony is that those areas most in favour if Brexit are the ones destined to suffer the most, bittersweet!ViewDate:

Has Theresa May got the right financial balance for pensioners?I have no issue with the change from triple to double lock on pensions now the damage done by a previous Tory Government has been sorted. I have no problem with the winter fuel payment being means tested. However the manifesto does not address health and social care at all. There are bound to be loopholes to allow the well off to legally escape the dessimation of their legacy. Furthermore, none of this is properly and transparently costed - something other parties would be harangued for. The whole thing is vague and devisive relying on sound bites to con the population that they are softening their stance. Let's not be fooled by the nasty party.ViewDate:

Would you like to see the mail, rail and energy industries nationalised? It is a false market and is part if the country's essential infrastructure so should not be in the hands of profiteers. The East Coast line was recently run as a public company, it worked brilliantly.ViewDate:

Should the State Pension be means tested? The recommendation cites the top ten per cent only which to be seems reasonable. I would have thought anyone with resources of over £100k pa could find it in themselves to help out for the greater good.ViewDate:

Is now the right time to hold a snap General Election?A man walks into a bar & demands free universal health care, affordable housing, full employment, decent working conditions & decent wages for all, investment in social care, mental health and green energy, a commitment to human rights, that we stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia and work toward peace in the Middle East, investment in national education and an end to grammar schools, the end of privatisation and the renationalisation of rail services and energy providers, that grotesque inequality, homelessness and reliance on foodbanks are all dramatically reduced, that we stop just locking up poor and mentally ill people in prisons that are not fit for purpose and instead give them the support and opportunities they need to thrive, free school meals for young children, more help with childcare, better funded and supported public and emergency services, equal pay for men and women, more support for small and medium sized businesses and a crackdown on tax avoidance and evasion which would more than fund everything he wants, but will vote Tory as he 'doesn't like' Corbyn.ViewDate:

Should MPs have more than one job?To properly serve your constituents you should devote yourself to the job of MP. By all means help out with local charities or at the local hospital as a volunteer to keep a handle on the real world. I don't see how he can do any of his jobs properly, I had enough trouble keeping on top of the workload from my supposedly three day a week lecturing contract in seven days. No doubt a few will have some negative words about that! Furthermore, the media is supposed to report news in an unbiased way (though we know they don't). This appointment to the Evening Standard does not even pretend to have balance!ViewDate:

How would you solve the NHS crisis? It is a very complicated situation we face with both health and social care, each impacts on the other and really needs to be brought together. We also need to change the language of taxation so people realise again that it is a responsibility not a burden to be taxed at an affordable rate. And yes, the highest earners need to be paying significantly more. There is no quick fix to two services that have been subject to underfunding over a long period of time but proper investment could help turn the tide. We all have a responsibility to pay more tax if we are earning over the thresholds.ViewDate:

Do you think we’re facing chaos now we’re leaving the EU?I agree services were struggling before but immigration is a red herring - the trade agreements will be dependent upon open borders so nothing will change there. Our NHS and social care would collapse without staff from other shores. Young people did come out and vote and they feel let down by their elders who are happy to just take and not give without thought for the future. I agree the EU is a mess but you can only affect change from within. This country is too small and ineffectual to achieve much on its own. The vote was - as you say - a revolting act with people not considering the important issues only the prejudices fuelled by Murdoch and his acolytes - he wanted out because he can't control the EU like he can No 10. As for Trump he only likes himself, Obama has been an excellent President. Still I must shut up as us in the 48% have lost - for now.ViewDate:

Do you think we’re facing chaos now we’re leaving the EU?I voted remain and am devastated at the result, I really thought as a country we had more thought for the future of our young people but I was wrong. I feel the leave vote had mistaken the EU referendum for a referendum on immigration. Granted those most badly hit by austerity are probably those who feel threatened by immigration and cheap labour. But those same people will also be most badly hit by what follows. I fear for our public services and especially health and social care. If the UK can be this foolish I dread the result of the US election!
