Government benefit sanctions what are your thoughts?Yes I know what you mean and I agree there needs to be some sort of punishment available to the job centre staff for repeat offenders. But I’ve always thought a fairer way would be to issue a written warning on the first offence and if they have a second offence, then stop the money. I actually no a woman whose bus broke down which made her late for her signing appointment. But when she informed the staff of why she was late they still sanctioned her which left her without any money for her and her child for four weeks. On appeal it was immediately overturned and she received back payments for the money she lost, but she still had to go four weeks without any money. This is the problem with how the system is set up; the job centre staff actually has two meet targets on sanctions. Where if she had been given a written warning, she could have appealed against the letter and won to have it removed from her file, and would have saved a lot of hardship over the four weeks.ViewDate:

Is modern technology making you smarter?I love technology, it opens the world up to you as you are getting older, it makes keeping in touch with your family easier I love nothing more than receiving photographs of my grandchildren and it definitely keeps the little grey cells active which is not a bad thing as you are getting older. I also like the social side to the Internet where you get to meet interesting people and you get to read interesting stories.ViewDate:

Who should elect members of the House of Lords? This just goes to show that democracy doesn't exist in Britain when a Prime Minister appoints these people to the House of Lords. Just so he can have a majority to get his policies through. I always thought the House of Lords was an independent group who reviewed government policies and would reject them and send them back if they did not think it was fair. And it also sends a message to the people. This government don't care if their members cheat and steal with their expenses they will still be rewarded so long as they give their 30 pieces of silver to the Tory party.ViewDate:

Corruption in the Labour leader electionHave to say the Labour leader contest is beyond belief and I honestly don't know how it hasn't been cancelled, it's got me totally baffled. There are actually tell people they are cancel votes which tells you it's been corrupted. To me if there is ever any doubt, that the contest has been tampered with one way or another. Then it needs to be stopped and the problem sorted out before anything else goes on. And as far as the Tory government goes, well they just a law unto themselves, after reading the data that was released under the freedom of information act. About how almost 2,500 people have died due to benefit sanctions and disability sanctions, I think Cameron, Osborne and Iain Duncan Smith should be put on trial as they have got the blood of innocent people on their hands.ViewDate:

How has your life been affected by arthritis?I've suffered with arthritis for over five year now but basically just took care of it myself with paracetamol. But a few weeks ago I had x-rays taken of my knees as they seem to be getting a lot worse, after speaking to the doctor to day he has basically informed me my knees are goosed for a better word. He has suggested having a needle and some form of solution injected into the knees to relieve the pain I just wondered if anybody has had this done and what is their opinion on the treatment? At the minute I have simply opted for stronger painkillers until I can do some research so any help and information would be appreciated.ViewDate:

Should women only carriages be introduced on trains at night? The problem I have with this is where does it stop? I definitely want women to feel safe when travelling because that's their right. But what's next? Women only pubs, women only restaurants, women only cinemas and taxis ect ect. The problem I think is driver only trains you need staff on them at all times, I can remember travelling on the train years ago where the guard/ticket collector would walk up and down through the carriages from the start the journey to the end. It's like when I use the Metro in the north-east of England you go on them and you hear abuse being shouted all over the place especially on a night-time and yet there is no staff on these metros to protect the public, men or women. So I actually think the railway companies are responsible as they have duty of care to their passengers and need to provide extra staff for their safety.ViewDate:

Migrant Problem at the EurotunnelWhen the government was selling the common market i.e. the EU to us, it was supposed to help businesses do business throughout Europe which I have no problem with at all. It was supposed to make travelling easier throughout Europe. It was not supposed to try and take over the complete running of all the countries it now interferes with our laws, taxes and is now affecting the lives of British citizens. Our government told us we were free to come and go through Europe, as soon as they realised that people were taken advantage of duty-free drinks and cigarettes and their realised this would affect the revenue coming to them, they immediately stamp down on it and put restrictions back in place. So basically we free to come and go so long as it doesn't affect the revenue. The problem we have now with the EU it has grown out of all proportion if you look at the amount of people come trying to get into Britain who aren't even members of the EU it's frightening. David Cameron says he is going to renegotiate our membership how? Look at the chaos in Greece their people actually voted no and their politicians went against their word and carried on with the EU backing, now they've all had to resign. Did the EU Parliament respect the democratic decision of the people of Greece the answer was no. Whether the Greek people were right or wrong they still should have had the democratic right to choose the path they wanted to follow and now it will take decades for them to recover if there even can? A few days after the first payment the EU published a paper saying the chances are they'd end up having to write the debt off in any case. That is why personally I think the only path Britain should take is to leave the EU, because I think if this monster is left to grow we will eventually see the death of democracy.ViewDate:

Is the Labour leadership election process flawed? He you go in one of the newspapers today slightly different figures 310,000 but that's newspapers for you, there are over 3000 British National party members that have registered to vote in the Labour election. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-leadership-contest-party-now-fears-infiltration-by-bnp-supporters-10470069.html which in my Opinion should see this campaign stopped in its tracks. As it is not fair to the true loyal members of the Labour Party who supported them over the last five year and are the only people I think deserves to vote in this contest.ViewDate:

Is the Labour leadership election process flawed?Unfortunately I think she's still in denial that anything is actually wrong? At the end of the day it does not put the Labour Party in a good light, and the sad thing is I believe the voting payment was introduced by Ed Miliband so in effect Labour has shot itself in its own foot and will have to take responsibility for the fiasco that has happened. As I said in my first comment a fair solution is whoever was a member of the party before the election should be the only people who get to vote for a new leader.ViewDate:

Is the Labour leadership election process flawed?I was shocked to when I read about it. It was published in two independent newspapers. It never actually said the breakdown between paying to become member of the Labour Party and the 3 pound vote? But just a thought that 410,000 had signed up has to make you wonder where were these people before the election? Also who are they???ViewDate:

Is the Labour leadership election process flawed? When Labour lost the last election there were 200,000 Labour Party members, there is now over 610,000 registered to vote? The simple fact is the numbers tell you this has been fixed. In reality the Labour Party haven't got a clue where everybody has come from. Recently in a newspaper article a Tory councillor published he had six voting papers that had been sent to him, okay Labour said they had cancelled his votes but how many more like this man has been signed up. when I got the email asking if I would like to join and I saw the pay three pound and get a vote I immediately said there is chaos ahead for the Labour Party. People who have no interest in the Labour Party except to rip it apart and destroy it. Simply paid the fee and had a good laugh at the people who organised the the contest. Personally I think a simple solution would be to find out who the original 200,000 members were and allow them to vote for the new leader as they have stuck with the party over the last five year and right up to the election defeatViewDate:

Rock & Roll, strikes and failing BritainYes we used to get home from school get changed and straight up to the coffee bar to get your favourite table near the jukebox. Now that's what I call proper social networking having a milkshake and all your friends around you and non-stop talking about the latest record or pop group and being a boy football.ViewDate:

Rock & Roll, strikes and failing Britainyes I know what you mean having two daughters, when I see some of these teenage girl magazines, I think it is criminal the way they try and push young girls into womanhood far too soon. I mean your childhood is short enough. And yet I think it's the opposite for boy's all they are interested in pushing to this group is computing games. But like all these big companies they are not interested in the welfare of the child, just how much money they can squeeze out of them in the name of fashion or street cred where the boys are concerned in having the latest thing.ViewDate:

Rock & Roll, strikes and failing BritainLife was a lot simpler in them days, we all grew up with nothing so whatever we did get we really appreciated it. All I had was a handheld radio with a bakelite ear piece listening to radio Caroline in the North Sea and in the 70s Sony Walkman with radio and of course the great music you have spoken about, but you forgot to mention Tamla Motown. Upon leaving school I started work there were plenty of jobs in them days. I think life is a lot better today. But I actually feel sorry for the children or teenagers the pressure on them now to perform in education and in life is so high, but unfortunately I think the opportunities are quite small to succeed in this day and age.ViewDate:

2000This is probably one of the few science-fiction movies I actually haven't seen, I'll have to see if it's available on Netflix. If it is I'll give it a watch and let you know what I think about it. My latest piece of technology is an android box it turns your TV into a mini computer with apps I'm having lots of fun working out how to do things with it.ViewDate:

2000You also forgot to mention the millennium bug. We all thought the world might end, well we didn't know whether our computers at the time would carry on working or aeroplanes were going to fall out of the sky. When I was a child the most I had was a little radio set with a bakelite earpiece trying to pick up radio Caroline from the North Sea happy days. If you look at what's technology is available to people over the last 50 years it makes you wonder where it's going to end, I personally think it's only a matter of time before they start chipping us? I have to say I absolutely love technology not that I know how to work it properly as my granddaughters keep telling me. But also sometimes it becomes really scary, what they are capable of doing with it. Well maybe George Orwell was right when he wrote the novel 1984.ViewDate:

Is it me or do you think that teenagers should get summer jobs to fund their lifestyle?Teenagers get a summer job to fund their lifestyle? That's a novel thought. When I was a boy of 12 I got my first morning paper round going out every day seven days a week. Okay I got Christmas and my two weeks holidays off. By the time I was 13 I also had a evening round which was six days a week and did this right up till I was 14.1/2 I used to earn £1.10 shillings over the week for the two rounds. Out of the money I earned 1 pound used to go into the family kitty which left me 10 shillings for myself. Then I came in from school one day(it was a Thursday) to be presented with a pair of white overalls and told you've left school now and you are becoming a painter and decorator and you are starting work on Saturday two weeks later not yet 15 years old I came through the door with my first pay packet with £3.10 shillings. I was greeted by my mother who asked for the pay packet where she removed £2.10 shillings for my board and lodgings and give me my pay packet back with a pound left in it to spend on what I like which is the lesson my parents were teaching me, that I shouldn't expect anything in life unless I worked for it. So to your question my answer would be yes it teaches children a valuable lesson that if you want things in life you have to work to get them.ViewDate:

Corruption in the Labour leader electionI agree with you entirely the Labour Party are is in such turmoil I can actually see it splitting, and if this happens it will mean Britain for the first time in a long time doesn't actually have an viable opposition party. and I like your joke to keep a Conservative politician honest that's a good one. Lol considering five of them have already had their expenses credit card stopped for failing to be able to produce the necessary receipts and that's within the first six month of government.ViewDate:

Three of the best digital camerasMy love of photography stretches back years, but as I was getting older I found carrying my Sony Alpha with all the lenses was getting a bit much for me. After doing a little bit of research I opted for the Canon G12. I have to say this is a all-round camera that ticked all the boxes, and it’s still going strong today.ViewDate:

How do I increase memory on my Galaxy? If you are talking about wanting to remove some software Samsung has installed into the phone, you would need to get your phone flashed with new software the term is called jailbreak where they flash a custom ROM into the phone which gets rid of the Samsung software. This can have the effect of making your phone a lot faster, as a lot of the useless apps Samsung put into their phones are removed. you would need to go to a phone shop that locks phones to get this done. If it's just memory you are after then the post below is correct just fit SD card I believe they can go up to 64 gig if not it will take a 32 gig card hope this helps.ViewDate:

Is it wrong to spend your kids’ inheritance? The chances of your children having any inheritance from you are now greatly reduced because of the cost of looking after yourself in old age. If you own property then the government take this into consideration and make you use the money from your home to look after yourself, this happened to me personally when my father had a stroke and lay in a nursing home bed for nine years. Because he had property we had to sell his home and fund his care. Don't get me wrong as far as I'm concerned I don't really care about the money, and I made sure he was comfortable until the day he died. But when you consider if he had just rented a home he would have been looked after for free, but he always thought the money from the property would go to his children to give them a helping hand in life.ViewDate:

Should e-cigs be prescribed on the NHS?Yet again I don’t see the connection? The question is should these E cigarettes be put on prescription? Alcoholics get money from the benefit system (not from the health service) it is paid to them on a daily rate, because if they got their money in a lump sum they could kill themselves with alcohol poisoning, the money they are given isn’t actually for alcohol it’s for food and of course I realise they do spend it on drink what they do with their benefit is up to them, and also the government are introducing new sanctions to stop this happening unless they go on a detox program and stick to it, they will have their money reduced or stopped. Until they seek help. And just the same as smokers get help the alcoholics will get help from the health service.ViewDate:

Should e-cigs be prescribed on the NHS?I fail to see your comparison, the subject you are talking about is a medical condition, it tends to be a flaw in the persons genes and requires medical help, as far as I’m aware the gastric band is available on the National Health Service with the recommendation from a doctor. The same as there is free help available for smokers, but you have to draw the line at some things and e-cigarette I think is one of these things, I think that smokers should pay if they want to try this device. The health service is from medical conditions I do not class smoking is a medical condition I class it as a bad habit where as some other diseases caused by smoking are medical conditions and are treated by the health service. I do not mean to offend anybody this is simply a personal view I understand smoking is a habit and is not something that is easy give up but with the help that is available to them that is free and will power it is totally achievable.ViewDate:

Should e-cigs be prescribed on the NHS?If you could afford to smoke, you can quite easily afford to buy one of these E cigarettes. I do not see why the National Health Service should be burdened with this cost. Smokers can already get help through patches sprays and tablets, and unfortunately the only real way to give up the habit is willpower. Good luck to anybody who is trying to give this habit up.ViewDate:

Gender Selection for babiesI do not think you should mess with mother nature, life is a gift and it shouldn't matter if it's a boy or a girl, so long as they are healthy. The trouble is in some cultures they do not want girls, if this technology keeps on going the way it is can you imagine in 10 or 20 years time suddenly we have a ratio of 10 men to one woman (the Frankenstein effect). Because I'm quite sure these companies won't keep account. it'll be all about the money to them. I'm not saying do away with this technology and if there is a solid medical reason that's find, but apart from that mother nature keeps life in the balance and that's how we should leave it.ViewDate:

Migrant Problem at the EurotunnelWhat people have to remember Britain is an island, which limits our resources on this basis alone we need to protect our borders. Can you imagine the strain on the country, if we left thousands of these people enter which is what the EU would like us to do. Especially France as it moves them out of their country. It's not that I'm heartless and I do feel sorry for these people but at the end of the day I want my country for my children and my grandchildren if you look at the state of Britain today our services are being cut to the bone and can't cope with the people that live here now. It's time the government stopped sucking up to the EU Parliament and get us out as quick as possible.
