Pwilly's bio
I am a full time, mature student doing a foundation science degree in Animal Health and Management, at Plymouth university. I have two children, who have children of their own. I live in Tavistock not far from Dartmoor, in fact less than 2mins away. I read prolifically, at the moment that tends to be text books, but I've just found Tess Gerritsen, who's fast becoming a favourite author. I have two rescue dogs, Fat Maddy and Pod who has three legs, hence the name deriving from tripod. -

Have you ever given your car a name?I had a 26 year old MK3 Golf. He was called VEG after his number plate. He was very well known around Tavistock and people would pat him when they passed him. He could knock spots off the tin can Micra I have now.ViewDate:

Should tourists pay for the impact they have on a destination?I live on Dartmoor and West Devon Council have been considering this for some time. I can't see how they would do it. Unless at each cattle grid there were barriers. The countryside belongs to everyone, people just need to know how to use these areas. There are no rubbish bins on the moor. so just take your rubbish home. It's not rocket science.ViewDate:

Do you think university tuition fees should be scrapped?I am at this moment a university student at 61. I'm studying science. No matter what I do when I've finished my degree .I'll never be able to pay back the student loans. I pity my cohorts who are mostly 18/20s and now have a lifetime of debt to look forward to.ViewDate:

How do you feel about giving money as a wedding gift? One of my boys and his fiancée asked for money, as they'd lived together and bought a house years earlier. I found the gift I would Have been buying for them which had a price tag of £40, so I gave them exactly what I would have spent on the gift. They used the money for their honeymoon. After all who needs two toasters.ViewDate:

Should shops remain closed on Boxing Day?Last Christmas eve I remember commenting to my partner, that the people surrounding us at the till in Morrison's, must be expecting the end of the world over Christmas. The trollies were full to bursting with food. I'd be surprised if any of them would need anything until after Boxing day. I'm sure people who work in retail, would like more than one day off over Christmas.ViewDate:

Should the FA defy the poppy ban?Just about every country in the world had and still has war dead. This is not a political issue. The poppy is a symbol, of how proud we are of those who's lives were lost to keep our country safe, secure and free to play football. It's also a respectful thank you. I shall wear mine with pride, as always and my 2yr old grandson, will be told this year, why he is wearing his.ViewDate:

My children never visit me - am I being unreasonable? No Olive I don't think you're being unreasonable. I'm having just that problem with my own children. I try to visit them in Bristol at least once a month. But it's not good enough for one of my sons in particular. He has more money than me, a better car than mine and as I've said on many occasions the distance from my front door, to his front door, is the same distance from his to mine. -
