Will you be downloading the new tracing app today?Sorry Honestjohn but absolute rubbish. The government is trying to save lives, albeit somewhat chaotic, but that is the aim. It’s certainly not a ploy to get you to get a better phone. This is my point. Some of our older generation have the attitude of ‘Why should I and who’s going to pay.’ Get a grip for god sake. We are all in this wether we like it or not. Just listen and follow the guidelines and hopefully most of us will live through this.ViewDate:

Will you be downloading the new tracing app today? As far as the government is concerned, I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes having to make the decisions they have to make. I agree not all the decisions suit us all but then they never will. Back to the app I stand by what I have said. As far as affordability is concerned, perhaps a small change in your weekly budget would be all that’s necessary to help protect yourselves. Anyway. Stay safe and well all.ViewDate:

Will you be downloading the new tracing app today?Who said I had an all singing all dancing phone. I have a basic smartphone that comes with my contract. It copes very well with the NHS Track and Trace app. Keeping myself and my family safe is worth every penny it costs. I feel a lot of it is “I’m not being told what I can and can’t do” Don’t tell me it’s not, I’ve heard it many times already. For pity sake people, this is not a game. What’s more important, your life or your outdated opinions.ViewDate:

Will you be downloading the new tracing app today? It puzzles me that a large number of you who had to shield from COVID and complained that your liberties were taken away. Now we have an app that could probably help you to move around more freely yet you still complain about big brother watching or my phone is to old. What do you guys want. Can’t we just accept that we all have to be flexible in our attitudes and try and defeat this awful virus by pulling together and embracing any advice and technology that could help save lives. Yes I’ve downloaded the app. Yes I will follow it’s advice. Yes I will abide by government advice. Is it that difficult?ViewDate:

Will you be visiting your local pub this weekend?Absolutely NOT. I too would prefer to enjoy a beer or wine that I prefer in my own surroundings with the people I would rather be with, not in a noisy area with people trying to talk over each other, having to queue at the bar with idiots who have to be served before anyone else and have no respect for other people’s space..ViewDate:

Are we on a countdown to chaos? What the h€%l is going on. Somebody please take responsibility for running this country and let’s get it back under control. Don’t threaten to close the beaches, CLOSE THEM. Stop the football. It’s, as usual, favouring the Premier League. If the other leagues can’t complete their seasons why should the Premier League. What’s going to happen when the pubs reopen. A few drinks inside some of these idiots and god knows what will happen. Also the protesters supporting BLM and LBGT gatherings. I respect your beliefs and feelings so please respect ours by following the advice given. Or should we consider a White Straight movement to protect the majority of the population. And I still can’t hug my grandchildren!!! Is this the way to carry on ??? God help us.ViewDate:

Is it too soon to resume Premier League football? As much as I enjoy a good game to watch I cannot understand the necessity to complete the football program for this season. I still can’t visit my own grandchildren or father in there own homes yet nearly 30 none family members can run around a football pitch with no social distancing on or off the pitch. Surely this is a case of money talking again. Is it really worth the risk?ViewDate:

Should controversial statues around the country be removed?Hi. In response to Shelfside to my post. I am grateful for your response and I agree with the fact that if he was a white man we would not be having the debate.. I did not know about George Floyds past criminal record and have to admit I am shocked at what he has done but 2 wrongs don’t make it right. I do have to agree with Lionel though. We are losing our identity to these people and it saddens me that this is the world we are leaving for our children and grandchildren. There’s good and bad in us all unfortunately some of us have a major axe to grind with society because they want to change our world to suit their misguided beliefsViewDate:

Should controversial statues around the country be removed? What happened to George Floyd was tragic. No one regardless of colour or creed should be treated in this way. But it does not justify the mob rule that now prevails over the United States and here I the UK. These symbols of our past are a reminder of our history whether we like it or not. We are moving with the times now, just look at the magazines and tv to see how we now have multiracial families instead of all white or black. News readers and politicians, tv families and reporters, that are BAME people that are now part of our everyday lives. The indiscriminate destruction of these Statues and Memorials is just Mob Rule and will never remove what happened in history, so why can we not try and remove these chips that some of us have on our shoulders and try and co-exist without Gang warfare, political point scoring and the need to be better than others.ViewDate:

Have you received the holiday refund that you are due?Had booked 2 weeks to Tenerife staying at CLC Paradise and flying with Ryanair. CLC have been absolutely fantastic, keeping us informed all the way. Ryanair cancelled the flights 10 days before we were due to fly and offered a refund which we accepted.. That was 5 weeks ago now and no sign of the refund. They have since offered flight vouchers which we declined 3 weeks ago. Since then nothing. Impossible to get in contact with them even with the chatbot. I live in hope....ViewDate:

Would you feel confident taking a holiday flight from 1st July?I think realistically it will not be safe to fly until next year, or at least until a vaccine has been successfully produced. I feel Ryanair’s motive is purely financially driven as is a lot of the other businesses pushing to reopen. The UK has a huge amount to offer so let’s help our own economy first before we throw our pounds sterling into foreign coffers.ViewDate:

Does the new 'Stay Alert' slogan convey a clear message?I feel it’s time we are treated as adults and not talked to like children. You will always get the self centred arrogant idiots who think they know better and will continue to do as they wish. The message is clear. This virus is lethal and indiscriminate. We have to behave in a manner that is going to protect ourselves and loved ones and if that means the extension of this unpleasant but absolutely necessary lockdown then so be it. So Boris and Co. Give us clear and firm instructions. Provide us will accurate information. Don’t just throw any political waffle at us. This is our lives and our nation’s future.. Please stay safe and well all.ViewDate:

Should WW2 veteran NHS fundraiser Tom Moore be knighted? This gentleman is a hero. To honour him with a knighthood is the least we, as a country should do. His commitment and passion must put many of us to shame. What he has done for the NHS and our key workers is, well, I’m lost for words. God bless you sir. You are truly a HERO.ViewDate:

Should plant nurseries and growers be allowed to sell their plants? We have a very gloomy time right now. One of the few breaks we can get from our enforced but so necessary confinement to our homes is our gardens. To be able to enhance our surroundings would be the joy of a garden full of bloom. The joy our children could get by growing their own fruit and vegetables in their own little plots. Surely with properly managed social distancing and customers with patience for the staff trying to achieve this, we should be allowed this benefit of garden centres being able to open, even on a restricted bases, so we can add this joy to our lives right nowViewDate:

Daily diaries of those who are self-isolating due to CoronavirusHi everyone. It’s great to see the true spirit and support for each other developing out of these difficult times. I feel that times such as this tends to reignite the real person inside us that tends to disappear with the stresses and pressures of our present way of living. It would be great if this could reunite our country in this turbulent political climate too. Unfortunately one bad thing that has manifested itself is the selfish self centred individuals that wish to profit from our present crisis. The greedy shopkeepers and predators that are bulk buying to sell on at a profit. Just remember you people that when this is all over and life returns to normal we will remember you for what you are and what you have done. Be safe all and hopefully healthy.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsWell it’s finally happened. Brexit is finally here. Whether you are a remainder or leaver the important thing now is for us all to unite and put the Great back into Great Britain. Fight together to put our country on a prosperous course into the future for us and our future families.ViewDate:

Should over 70s be banned from voting on the country's future? That’s all very well but how many of these younger voters actually stand by their views and actually vote on their own future. Instead of stopping people from voting, perhaps we should consider mandatory voting so everyone’s opinion counts. Or is that to much effort for the younger members of our country?ViewDate:

Is a bad deal better than remaining in the European Union?People of the United Kingdom. We are still the same people who have helped shape the world for centuries. Surely can we not unite again as a nation and sort this unholy mess out that is rapidly tearing this beautiful country apart by accepting a second referendum so we can, as a nation, all vote to ensure that the so-called government who only seems to be interested in their own politically agendas, are absolutely clear on what we, as a nation, want. I realise we have voted on this before but we now, I feel, have a better understanding of what the implications are by leaving or staying in the EU means. Let’s now show our European neighbours that we are a strong and meaningful United Kingdom and stand together with our voice.ViewDate:

Have we been mis-sold a Brexit ? Should politicians be held to account ?Seems to me that we have all been deceived by the political parties over Brexit. The Referendum was pushed through to quickly. Not enough time or thought was allowed to prepare a fair and honest argument for either leave or remain. A feel that the whole process has been based on political agendas to further their own party political careers or campaigns and not for the benefit of our country. This is Great Britain or the United Kingdom, which ever you prefer. Not a political battleground for the benefit of the few. We should be united in this troubled time to bring our wonderful country back into the world leading position it should and can be if we can control our destiny and not be told what we must do by our own self motivated government and political leaders or the unelected faceless spongers in Brussels. RULE BRITANNIA. Rant over.ViewDate:

Is the greeting 'Ladies and Gentlemen' out of date?In reply to GayleH comments. Good for you girl. You are exactly right. To many different labels is only going to confuse and even worse, create more prejudice then there is now. If someone is gay, fine, but let's not make them a target for those who are too narrow minded to except people for who they are, not what they are. How would you solve the NHS crisis?Firstly, the NHS should NOT be run as a business. It's a public service for all of us who contribute via National Insurance. Secondly it's the National Health Service NOT the International Health Service. We must retrieve payment from those who abuse the system from abroad. The NHS cannot subsidise the continuous drain on funds and resources from foreign visitors who blantantly use the NHS for cheap health care for themselves. By all means let them use our already vastly overstretched hospitals but make them pay for the privilege like we would have to when we travel abroad.ViewDate:

Do you currently own a diesel car?I bought a diesel car for my wife believing that it was more fuel efficient and cleaner emissions therefore better for the environment. Surely the super rich fuel manufacturers can come up with an improved diesel fuel to rectify the problem or are we just going to lay down and except the possibility of diesel fuel either rocketing in price or disappearing from the forecourts?ViewDate:
