Should Britain stay in the EU or is now the time to leave?I was born right at the start of the 50s, grew up in the 60s and started work in the 70s. I don't remember life quite like the one you portray above. We were not a rich family, my father worked hard and didn't own a car until 1964. We didn't have holidays except when we went to stay with relatives. However, my friends had a good diet, because of the plentiful veg from markets and neighbours gardens, we didn't eat much meat and had loads of exercise, running around in a largely car-free environment. We had the NHS, free orange juice, Virol, cod liver oil, school dentists and teachers who took us on nature walks to learn about the environment. Life was more local. The education I had gave me a lifelong love of learning and the tools needed to express myself. There was a young lad with polio who wore calipers on our street and I don't remember any other health problems that my friends and family suffered. Yes, we did get smogs and the air wasn't always clean around the railway. Was this any different in Europe? I left school and benefited from free college education and accommodation and got a job when I needed one, both through college holidays and after leaving college. When I'd been married for three years we bought a house. We've had two houses, both of which made a profit. I consider myself part of one of the luckiest generations ever. Has membership of the Common Market (that was all we voted for, I believe....) helped us? I don't know, really. Who's to say what life would have been like without it. It has, however, meant a freedom to travel, which is good for me but not for anyone wishing its citizens ill-will. It has meant some rather loony laws. I resent the amount that is spent on electing MEPs and their huge expenses, I resent the mechanics and expense of the burgeoning beaurocrocy that is the European Council and all its sub-sets and committees. I resent the fact that we cannot decide our own fate in our own country on some matters. So far, I'm fact finding and making up my mind. The outlandish Government Pamphlet has not helped, it has only annoyed me....what a waste of our money! So I'm willing to listen to all the arguments, for and against. My instincts are tending to 'leave'.ViewDate:

“We can lock up and leave – and everything will be fine”I'm interested in something like this for my parents but they are only able to rent. Are there any properties available for rental?
