Two Lovers Fresh....I think your poetry is very lovely and how lucky you are to have known love so strong that you were able to write with such feeling. I shall keep an eye out for some more. Welcome to Silver Surfers.ViewDate:

Jeremy Corbyn or Owen Smith - who would you choose?never heard of one of them. Jeremy Corbyn reminds me of the sort of man I somehow got stuck with when going to the quiet part of the library where one could sit and read, the man who had a whiff of mothballs about him. I would think he is some childs favourite uncle probably has a few sweeties in his pocket.(Werners Originals and Humbugs) Oh how I wish he would release that ragng bull hiding within. and change from Norman Wisdom into Arnold Schwarzenegger.ViewDate:

Should the law be changed on naming and shaming the accused?AMAZING THAT JIMMY SAVILE HAD THE POLICE AROUND FOR DRINKS NOBODY EVER HEARD A BAD WORD ABOUT HIM. YET, SIR CLIFF HAD HIS HOUSE ENTERED AND HELICOPTERS FLYING OVER HIS PROPERTY ALL WITH THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE BBC. I NEVER BELIEVED THE STORY LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE. BUT EVEN IF IT WAS TRUE WHO IS JUDGED BY THE PRESS ETC., WITHOUT A TRIAL. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE SOME JUSTICE AND THE BBC AND THE PRESS MUST BE MADE TO PAY UP FOR THE EVIL ILLEGAL RAID ON HIS HOME WHILST HE WAS IN PORTUGAL AND THE NEWS WRITTEN IN SUCH A WAY AS TO ALMOST SAY HE WAS GUILTY. THE BBC IS THE LAST PLACE TO GET THE TRUTH IN FACT SAVILLE WAS A VERY TRUSTED EMPLOYEE AND NOT ONE BBC DIRECTOR LISTENED TO THE GOSSIP WHICH ALSO INCLUDED THE YORKSHIRE POLICE WHO WERE CLOSE BUDDIES WITH SAVILLE. IN MY OPINION THERE WERE BBC HIGH UPS WHO KNEW WHAT A PERVERT HE WAS AND IF NOT THEMSELVES INVOLVED WITH HIM THEN TURNED A BLIND EYE AS HE WAS MAKING THEM POTS OF MONEY WITH HIS "FAMILY" ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS". I WISH CLIFF THE VERY BEST OF HAPPINESS AND HOPE HE CAN NOW ENJOY HIS LIFE AFTER THE EVIL NIGHTMARE HE HAS BEEN PUT THROUGH FOR OVER TWO YEARS.SHAME ON THE PEOPLE WHO TRIED TO DESTROY HIS CAREER AND HIS HEALTH,ViewDate:

Ten tips from the Suffolk Silver SurferHELLO I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE FIRST SECRETARY'S TO WORK WITH A COMPUTER. THE COMPANY I HAD JOINED WAS THE UK HEADQUARTERS OF AVON COSMETICS. SO I WAS SENT TO A PLACE IN LONDON TO BE SHOWN HOW TO USE A PC. THE COMPANY WAS "WANG". I WAS WORRIED THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LEARN THIS STRANGE NEW MACHINE. THE YOUNG MAN WHO GAVE THE DEMONSTRATION GAVE US TIME EVERY SO OFTEN TO WRITE DOWN IN OUR NOTEBOOK THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION, IT WAS NOT AS DAUNTING AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE AND I WAS BEGINNING TO CONTROL THE NERVES, WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A HUGE NOISE AND A YOUNG GIRL SHOUTED A BAD WORD SHE HAD THROWN THE BOOKS ONTO THE FLOOR LUCKILY THE PC WAS TOO HEAVY , THEN GRABBED HER BAG KNOCKED OVER HER CHAIR AND SHOUTED "THATS IT - IVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS JAPANESE CRAP" AND WALKED OUT. SHE DIDNT TURN UP THE NEXT DAY. I WAS QUITE OLD AT 28 BUT MY ANGEL MUST HAVE BEEN HELPING ME AS I JUST FOUND IT PRETTY EASY. NOW I DONT WORK SO ITS JUST A QUICK WAY TO GET INFORMATION, OR KEEP IN TOUCH WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN OTHER COUNTRIES AND AVOID THE HUGE PHONE BILLS. I AM RUBBISH COMPARED TO THE GRANDCHILDREN BUT I ASK THEM IF I DONT KNOW THE LATEST PC WORD. THEY KNOW EVERYTHING. WELL DONE WITH YOUR MBE SOUNDS AS IF YOU DESERVE IT. IF I GET A PROBLEM I MIGHT ASK YOU INSTEAD OF MY GRANDSON. A FEW YEARS AGO HE NEARLY COLLAPSED WITH LAUGHING WHEN I ASKED HIM WHAT DOES LOL MEAN? BEST WISHES ALICEViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyhello I am just trying to find my way around and so found this page which seems to be a good place to start. I left the UK two years ago and came to live in the land of my ancestors EIRE. The weather is a bit of a non event unless one likes rain. i wont go into the negatives, but suffice to say I am intending to sell up and return to the love of my life - Cornwall. It has been interesting watching the UK as a foreign country, and not a particularly liked neighbour. My ancestors were all born in EIRE and as a child i used to visit my grandparents in Kilkenny, which i thought was heaven on earth. I was born just as UK entered into war with Germany, not a good time, living with the sounds of artillery guns which were just one road away, the door knocker was knocking on its own from the huge guns firing and the bombs dropping, who in their right mind would bring children into a world at war. Of course, i was told by my Irish Mother that everybody thought it would all be over in a few months!!! Thank God my children did not have to go through that. My sister was left in Eire with our grandparents and so she didnt know about war until she was almost five when our Mother took me to collect her. This funny little kid with a funny accent and the life of freedom, happy days running through the fields and sometimes going with granny at the crack of dawn to pick mushrooms to add to the breakfast. Our Mother and Father were totally wrong for each other so not only did I have the noise of warfare from outside but there was a war going on inside the house so my poor little sister did not know that she was leaving heaven and entering hell on earth. I lost my darling kind sweet sister this year, she was living in Spain so when i got the call from my niece I had to rush to London to get the euro to France and then train to Alicante and taxi to the hospital (I have a dreadful problem about air travel, which was not helped when I was 17 and my very beautiful cousin who was so lovely had been picked to represent Eire in the Miss World contest but the day she had to go to Dublin was a day she had to work so she asked a friend to swap her shift, and unfortunately the plane took off from Cork but went down into the sea off the coast of Wales, nobody ever knew what happened. it affected me badly later in life when I did have to travel by plane and I hated every second and only ever got into a plane if it was an emergency but even then it was hard so when i got the call to go to Spain i chose to go by rail which was not a comfortable experience as the French train to Alicante was the most uncomfortable I have ever known before or since.ViewDate:

Is a weight-loss pill the answer to the obesity crisis?Unfortunately, I don't think there is any magic about losing weight it is simple. It is not necessary to pay out lots of money on diets. I am a vegetarian and have been for over 25 years and since I stopped eating meat I never had a problem with my weight. Howeve,r it is not necessary to give up eating meat just limit the amount or try stick to chicken instead of a large steak. it might seem difficult to cut out fattening food but after a few months, the cream cake or the bag of chocs are not as inviting as they were. I don't think one has to give up anything just eat sensibly and then the fattening chocolate now and then won't make any difference to your weight.ViewDate:

Looking after a grandchildi THINK YOU SHOULD BE PLEASED THAT HIS DAUGHTER IS TRYING TO BETTER HERSELF AND MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR HER SON. I THINK YOUR HUSBAND IS A VERY GOOD AND KIND MAN AND I WISH MY EX HUSBAND HAD THOUGHT LIKE HIM. ONE DAY THE LITTLE BOY WILL BE A BIG BOY AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS GRANDFATHER WILL BE A GOOD ONE. I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE A BIT MORE INTEREST IN THIS LITTLE BOY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PARTNER AND HIS FAMILY, OR IS IT ONLY YOUR PARTNER YOU CARE ABOUT? SORRY HE HAS A DAUGHTER AND HE HAS A GRANDSON, GET USED TO IT IF YOU REALLY LOVE HIM YOU SHOULD MAKE THE EFFORT TO CARE ABOUT HIS FAMILY - IF YOU CARRY ON LIKE YOU ARE THEN DONT BE SURPRISED IF HE TAKES HIS BLOOD RELATIVES OVER YOU..ViewDate:

Looking For Some New Matesyes I know that area, lovely part and Falmouth very interesting. The Tallships were there one year and the Mexicans were great. It was a lovely sight to see them all out on the rigging, There was a special night when they left and i was in a friends boat in the harbour and it was surreal all the fireworks lighting up the sky and then coming towards us in the darkness. I will never forget it. My dream was to get a camper van and DO England Ireland Scotland and Wales and write a book of experiences. Never happened, life intervened.ViewDate:

Looking For Some New Mateswhere are you in Cornwall? There are many things to do if you join the local village club they get involved in gardening projects and all sort of village affairs. There was a village hall where i lived and they posted things up on a board frequently. They also used to have coach trips arranged so you could get to see other parts and with nice people to talk to. good luck.ViewDate:

Looking For Some New MatesWell you are living in my most favourite place in he world! Lucky you. I lived outside of Penzance in a village for 15 years; I left because after 15 years I lost my beloved spaniel, and decided to sell up -- worst mistake ever, but started travelling with my lovely granddaughter in her gap year and saw most of Spain and France. I loved both Countries, so much to see, and so much culture and beauty.Found the people friendly and very helpful. My Granddaughter went back to uni and is in Liverpool now and I decided to go to Essex and bought a house but found Clacton a bit of a non place apart from the sea which I love. but then I decided to go to the country of my Parents - Eire - that green and beautiful place. Well! its been a year now and I bought an apartment with a beautiful view, its a lovely little town and the people are so very nice. My Eldest daughter is not well pleased, she wanted me to go and live in her house but pay for a granny flat to be built. Now, she has a very high-powered job sometimes off to US and Germany and she can be very nice but, unfortunately, is extremely bossy and wants to control my life her husband died when he was only 37 so she brought up her sons herself. One doesn't live there now but lives nearby. The other son is in Uni in London has a girlfriend and he spends much of his time with her. I am beginning to wonder whether to stay or go back to UK. Due to dreadful marriage to an Iranian which would make a novel, ie I worked very hard for 16 years but he didn't pay a stamp on my card so UK pension is awful, however, the Irish pension would be much better. I have paid so much to solicitors and it will cost me lots more if I decide to go about applying for Irish pension The amount of info i have to supply is mind blowing, ie i would have to get info from solicitors in Cornwall and find all the dates of sales and purchases plus the names of all agents and so on and on. Every bit of info is in my daughters loft in UK.and I know she will not help me much to get the papers I need. Last night around 3am I thought WHAT AM I DOING?. I think now that I won't get involved with solicitors etc.,but just forget the Irish pension. My dream is to go back to Cornwall so that leaves me with a property here which i would need to sell in order to buy something in Cornwall and even then the property here being in Euros will not get me much in Cornwall as property has risen so much since i left in 2010. Friends have said just rent something in Cornwall until the place here goes up in value if Eire recovers from the disaster they went through few years ago. Big decisions to make, if I go back to UK at least, I get to see the Grandchildren, and all my friends and dont have to pay out thousands on solicitors to get Irish pension. I think I am doing the right thing leaving here. I could rent this place out until prices recover which would help my cash flow in UK. I can see me living in a caravan OMG thats quite scary but an experience I guess lol. Oh well maybe somebody on here can give me some alternative advice. I sure need it. Midnight now so better stop rambling.ViewDate:

Is TV a source of inspiration or sedation?THERE IS A SWITCH OFF BUTTON ON EVERY TV I HAVE USED THEREFORE IF I DISLIKE A PROGRAMME I PRESS IT. HOWEVER, I THINK TV IS THE BEST INVENTION. I WAS 12 BEFORE WE HAD OUR BLACK AND WHITE TV AND STRAIGHT AWAY I LOVED IT. IT WASN'T ONLY THE MUSIC/ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS SUDDENLY WE WERE SEEING COUNTRIES ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THE NEWS WAS INSTANT LIKE THE CUBAN CRISIS, JFK MURDER, ETC., THE WORLD SUDDENLY BECAME MUCH SMALLER. ART,LITERATURE,PLAYS DISCUSSION GROUPS, ALL INFORMATIVE AND INTERESTING, TELEVISION HAS HELPED TO EDUCATE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT LIKE TO READ. IN MY OPINION TELEVISION IS THE ONE OF THE GREATEST EVER INVENTIONS.ViewDate:

Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked or reinstated?MY GRANDDAUGHTER AND I HAVE EXCELLENT EYESIGHT AND WE BOTH LAUGHED SO MUCH WHEN JEREMY WAS ACTING THE FOOL AND HIS SIDEKICKS WERE GREAT TOO. WE MISS THE PROGRAMME VERY MUCH IT WAS FUNNY EXCITING AND INTERESTING. NOTHING ELSE COMES CLOSE TO THAT PROGRAMME AND ONE STUPID LITTLE ROW WHEN THEY WERE TIRED AND HUNGRY (MEN ARE NOT THEMSELVES WHEN THEY ARE HUNGRY) CAUSED SOME MISERABLE PERSON TO CANCEL ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER ON TV. AS FOR GETTING OUR EYES TESTED AS FAR AS HIS LOOKS WHAT A STUPID SEXIST REMARK, IT WASNT HIS LOOKS HE HAS SOMETHING FAR MORE ATTRACTIVE AND THAT WAS HIS HUMOUR AND PERSONALITY I AM 78 MY GRANDDAUGHTER 24 WE BOTH LOVED CLARKSON ET AL. BRING IT BACK YOU MISERABLE OLD FOGEYS.ViewDate:
