Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi Tessa Rose, yes there is some lovely scenery down here; I live just over an hours drive from the New Forest, near to Sherborne which is also handy to go to Weymouth, Charmouth and further across to Poole too as I also enjoy the coastal areas. Shropshire is very beautiful too, when I used to live in the Midlands, occasionally would pop over to Shrewsbury or Ludlow. How old is your mini Dachshund? many years ago my parents had them, all so different in character. No snow down here so far although bitterly cold, winter now arrived, have you seen snow where you are yet ? I have a friend who lives in Anglesey and has seen it over on the welsh hills.ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.A bright cheery Hi to you all, although joined last Nov I did not introduce myself here, so here goes: During my 60 years I have moved around the UK quite a lot and have been living near the Dorset /Somerset border for over 12 months now. Somehow I seemed to have lost my confidence and so am finding it difficult to actually go out and about and make new friends; although I do meet a like- minded group occasionally about 45 minutes drive from here. My son and family live in the Midlands; my daughter currently lives in London and we meet up fairly regularly. I have two cats and a few months ago my 15 year old collie cross passed over, so I am currently considering whether to have another rescue dog . I love being in nature, open fields and by the trees and also being going down to the coast and watching the sun dance along the water and maybe take a splash in the sea. So whilst I have no idea whether I shall have anything to contribute to the forums/chat at least this is a starting point. :-)ViewDate:

Fifty shades of greyI dabbled in colouring my hair on and off over the years prior to silver grey hair infiltrating my golden brown tresses; however, my hair grew so quickly the dreaded dark runway soon appeared over my scalp, this meant another ghastly chemical choking session in the bathroom to re-touch or re-colour. Eventually enough was enough, I commenced going to the hair salon and regularly having my shoulder length hair cut into a slightly shorter bob, left off any colour and finally grasped the nettle and a very short cut short which was very brave of me as I love to be able to hear the breeze through my hair. That was a few years ago, luckily my hair soon grew to shoulder length and I have not looked back; for me it felt so 'normal' to have pepper colour in the main body and silver white stripes at the side and fringe. One or two people did not approve and suggested that I should colour it so 'look younger', I did not agree, for me it felt 'fake' and I am delighted to feel and look like 'me' to myself regardless of others opinion. The fashion culture for sometime now has been to 'chase after youthfulness' including hair colouring which is rife everywhere including women and men on tv etc. and very often this technique is not fooling anyone and colour does not really suit the face. It is all about perception and the more people who can accept their silver/grey/white hair and embrace a youthful, fun outlook and zest for life, the greater the statement is that people of a more mature age are fine and beautiful/handsome at this time of their lives and are as young as they feel. A sparkle in the eyes and a smile is the most youthful techniques anyone can use ...and..... it warms people's hearts too.ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen?NO !!! and in fact I feel it is high time we ceased to have a monarchy; allow the present Queen to reach the end of her reign and that's be the end of that.ViewDate:

Should smoking be brought back into pubs?Absolutely NOT, smoking is not a personal habit as it afflicts others with secondary smoking and I hated being kippered by their smoke, in my hair and on my clothes, thoroughly vile. Even today I dislike walking past where smokers are congregating in a huddle polluting the air. Sadly tobacco companies are still in existence and also strongly peddling their toxic wares to 3rd world countries despite it being well known that smoking causes cancer and often killsViewDate:

Do you prefer Cadbury’s Roses to be ‘twist’ or ‘flow wrap’?It's not so much the wrapper that bothers me - although prefer the traditional wrappers - it's the taste..... the chocolate does not seem to be like chocolate any more and to me to be more of a sweet tasting so called chocolate flavouring. In fact I do wonder how they produce these large tins as such a low cost without compromising on the original taste, but then they are no longer owned by Cadbury so perhaps that says it all.ViewDate:

The 60s ... What did like best about the 60s?Listening to Radio Caroline on my transistor radio next to the pipes in the house trying to receive a better signal and mother telling me that it was illegal to listen to that. At night it was Radio Luxemburg time. Favoured the Rolling Stones, the Kinks especially on the radio in my dad's company jag because the sound was deep and amazing; first heard the Stones' record Satisfaction at a garage filling station and was 'blown away' by music which had a more spontaneous edge to it . Not keen on the Beatles although slightly more interested as they entered an experimental period prior to going separate ways. Having 'enviable' long naturally straight hair and wishing was older into my teenage years and wanted more freedom from parental wing clipping. :-)
