Who would make a better President - Donald or Hillary?IF TRUMP WINS IT WILL BE A DISASTER. CAN ANY SANE PERSON SEE THAT BLONDE NUTCASE SITTING DOWN WITH WORLD LEADERS AND NOT SHOW HIMSELF TO BE AN IDIOT, A FUNNY IDIOT IS BAD ENOUGH, BUT A LYING SELF PROMOTING POWER CRAZY LOONEY IS A DISASTER. WHAT SHOCKS ME IS THAT SO MANY AMERICANS SEEM TO THINK HE HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. HE IS A JOKE AND PUTIN WOULD SOON STOP THAT IDIOT SMILE FOR GOOD.ViewDate:

Should smokers, drinkers, drug users and obese people be charged to see the doctor?YES YES YES AT LAST SOME SENSE. NO EXCLUSIONS, FREE AT THE POINT OF NEED. WHEN I WAS A YOUNG KID I REMEMBER MY FATHER TALKING ABOUT BEVAN AND WHAT A GREAT MAN HE WAS. I WAS ABOUT 3 YRS OLD AND IT STAYED IN MY MIND SO THAT WHEN I WAS OLDER I GOT BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY, AND SOON UNDERSTOOD WHY THE NHS WAS AND IS STILL THE BEST THING THAT A LABOUR GOVERNMENT GAVE TO THE UK POPULATION, I REMEMBER AS A CHILD HEARING ABOUT CHILDREN IN MY SCHOOL WHO WERE ILL WITH POLIO AND OTHER AWFUL DISEASES. SOME OF THEM WERE IN HOSPITAL FOR OVER A YEAR BUT DID RECOVER. I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN EIRE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW AND THANK GOD I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY ILLNESS AT PRESENT BUT I AM IN MY 70s SO WILL BE GOING BACK TO CORNWALL AS SOON AS I CAN SELL UP, I HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED WITH AMAZINGLY GOOD HEALTH BUT THINGS COULD CHANGE AND I WANT TO BE IN A COUNTRY THAT HAS THE VERY BEST HEALTH SERVICE IN THE WORLD. THE LONGER I LIVE THE MORE I REALISE WHAT A FABULOUS COUNTRY THE U.K. IS.ViewDate:

Should smokers, drinkers, drug users and obese people be charged to see the doctor?I dont think you are right about unsympathetic people. I went through a stress filled time in my early 30s. I started practicing yoga in a town hall with other people and to be truthful I felt much better after a couple of classes and it was not just the yoga but it was meeting other people who were going through a time of stress and some of us went to a nearby coffee bar after the class and we all agreed after a month that we were more positive and happier. Staying indoors and not having any contact with positive outgoing people is I believe why so many get depressed in the first place. Just a walk to a park, talk to a young Mum and her kids, stroke a dog and the owner will be happy to chat, especially about their beloved dog. Your problems are mainly physical ie diabetes, hiatus hernia ( my youngest had that at age 2yrs she had an operation and didnt have any trouble again (she is now over 50) ulcers are medical illnesses which usually curable with medical care. I have known people who have also suffered these problems but they dont have to be for life. My friend who has had diabetes for many many years enjoys life and just keeps her appointments at a clinic where she has check ups. I am a vegetarian and she noticed that I am blessed with very good health, so I suggested that she could try vegetarianism, she said she would try but being a meat and two veg girl thought she would not be able to give up meat. After two months she had given up meat and ten years on she never eats meat at all. She never thought she could do it but now she cant bear to look at a butchers shop or adverts on tv for beef burgers. lol. I am not a true vegetarian as I eat fish sometimes but I have not touched meat for 30 years. Thank God I am so far extremely healthy apart a cold once a year. I am now 79 and dont feel any different from when i was 40. Depression is one of the most debilitating conditions, which can make one have symptoms of just about every illness. My Father had a manic depressive illness from about age 47 years of age and that was horrible especially for my Mother. Please join a group that are involved in something you may like, ie theatre group, either watching or actually taking part. If you like animals help out in a Rescue centre.I did that and it is so rewarding but be careful you dont adopt half a dozen dogs or cats. If you havent a pet then get one or pet sit for friends now and then. I think your last remark is sad, I can honestly say I do not know anybody who has not been depressed at some time in their lives, i have friends who have lost parents, or lost small children - life throws up some bad stuff, but I would advise you to sit down in a nice park or on a beach and think how lucky you are to be sitting there. Please join some group, or my favourite which is to help out in a charity shop a few hours a week, and meet some positive thinking people. We are not here for eternity, just less than a hundred years, or much less some times. I will say a prayer for you, I often speak to my "special Angel" something I started when I was a child and I have really experienced miracles several times in my life. I will pray that you will start to "live", and that your life will be enhanced and filled with love and happiness starting from tomorrow. love alice xViewDate:

Jeremy Corbyn or Owen Smith - who would you choose?OMG dont mention that evil man. Blair and Bush the terrible twosome, who are responsible for the mess in Syria etc., and the ISIS ISIL terrorists. Blair made a fortune and even was able to see his young son become a homeowner whilst a teenager. The people of Syria and other countries in the region have suffered hell on earth and i cant see an end of it any time soon. Whilst Blair and Bush became millionaires. I did write to Jeremy Corbyns office and suggested that he needs a stylist as he looks like some old chap who has a model railway in his loft where he stays most of his time. I suggested that he should get a stylist and probably remove the unattractive facial hair. I got a reply from his office thanking me for writing and they actually asked me if I would like to make a contribution to the Labour Party!!!!!! My Granddaughter laughed so much she was crying the whole thing is like a Monty Python sketch. I think i might go to live in Scotland.ViewDate:

How Do Single Retired People Not Become Isolated And Alone?well Viv if you WANT to meet people then get out of your house walk down to town or village and offer your time in a charity shop, and not only will you be welcomed but you may find that you meet some very nice people that you may even be able to get to know better after work, ie a coffee in a cafe, or trip to some nearby theatre, or walk in the park, etc., etc., if you are going to wait for some stranger to knock on your door and invite you out you are going to be very disappointed. If you help in a charity shop you can work as much or little as you want and you will meet other volunteers who you can get to know and even suggest tea in a cafe nearby. good luck, the longer you carry doing nothing the more time you are wasting, there are nice friendly people out there, Good luck. aliceViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyWell I left Cornwall and with my Granddaughter on her GAP year we visited France and Spain for almost a year. It was very interesting I loved all the Palaces and especially the Alhambra in Grenada and Versailles which is stunning. We also stayed in mountain villages in France and Spain and probably every museum in both countries. We met lovely people some of whom were extraordinarily kind and friendly to us. I wish I had gone back to Cornwall but went to see Wales which was lovely also, but I didn't get to Scotland which is really on my wish list.I would love to stay on one of the Islands up there. My Granddaughter had to get back to Uni and I made a bad mistake. My Parents were both born in Southern Ireland, and i had been there when i was younger so I decided to visit the place of my ancestors - Kilkenny and Kells. it turned into more than a holiday and I went through a difficult purchase of a lovely apartment overlooking Dungarvan bay and surrounding mountains. It is a very beautiful view, and I have enjoyed seeing the lovely boats that are moored up, so very pretty. The town is a very lovely place, reminds me of a french town. Everything on a square, and property painted in pretty pastel colours. Irish people are friendly and easy to talk to.However, I didnt realise how much i would miss my friends in Cornwall, and also my friends and family in London. My Granddaughter and a friend visited, and also one of my Grandsons but they all love the sun so they are usually in France and other places in Europe and beyond. I am not such a sun worshipper having lived in Cornwall for many years I am used to gales, wild seas, as well as some lovely sunny days, but nothing like the heat of parts of Europe and the longer I have been here the more I yearn to go back to Wild Cornwall. So sadly I have decided now that I am pretty old it is time to go back before I may get less mobile and also to be able to see friends and family more often. I live here in an apartment, and although it is beautiful with a verandah overlooking the wonderful scenery, I have only seen one or two people whilst coming into the entrance to get the lift. When i lived in Cornwall i had a lovely cottage in a small village and it did take time for the Cornish to speak to me, but once I got my beautiful spaniel I met them in the fields walking their dogs and I ended up with lots of friends, and also there was a lovely "happy clappy" Christian group who were fabulous and very friendly. Dogs definitely are an asset if you do not know anyone as dog owners are always ready talk to each other. I know there are one or two people in the apartments who have little dogs, but most people do not. It is very peaceful, however I will be getting a dog as soon as I get a place to live in Cornwall. I would advise you to join a group, or be a volunteer in a Charity shop, i did that in Penzance met lots of people. You dont say where you are but if it is near a town there should be charity shops. RSPCA people need pet lovers to help out in their centres. I started doing car boots with a lady in the village it was really good fun and we made money for the Air Ambulance people. I have found out the hard way, that nobody is going to come knocking on your door you must get out of the house and then you will meet some very nice folk. Good luck, and be brave or you will never meet anyone to chat with. xx alice.ViewDate:

Who would make a better President - Donald or Hillary?well as far as I am concerned Trump is just a joke. I appreciate that he has made a fortune and has been successful as a businessman but God forbid he ever becomes President of the United States. They will not be united states for very long if the unimaginable happens and he actually gets into the White House. I do not know if any President has ever been loved by all Americans except in the movies it is Lincoln. The chance of being assassinated is pretty high. One would imagine with so many politicians that the great American people could choose one that would be a man of the people for the people. Its such a huge and diverse country getting someone who can please all factions is pretty near impossible. I do not see Mrs Clinton being popular nor do I see her as a World Leader. I hope and pray they choose a man or woman who has integrity honesty and the will to improve the lives of the black people and give the top jobs to those who truly deserve the posts rather than cronies and "yes" men. There is a huge division in America between the rich and the very poor.I hope for the safety of the free world that the next President is someone who can be an inspiration to the people of America, rich and poor, black and white and also be an honourable statesman trusted by all the decent politicians of the World.ViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyhow do you like North Wales after Devon. I had a friend who moved from Cornwall to Devon but she was sorry later and is now moving back to Cornwall. I guess it all depends where one ends up and if the people are friendly. The people are nice here in Eire but I miss my friends and family in UK I thought they would all visit, but only two have. My family like to go to places where they get the sunshine and that is not something Eire is famed for. Now I have the hassle of selling my apartment and the search for somewhere to live in Cornwall where the property prices have been driven up by the holiday home purchasers. Its a worry, but I love Cornwall so much. Its time to win the lottery I think.ViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyhi castell3 how do you like north Wales? I went to Wales for the first time about three years ago. I went to Chester first as my granddaughter was in Uni there. From there got a train to Llandudno, which was very nice with a lovely Theatre we saw a show there with several groups from the 60s who we actually met in the foyer after the show. They were very friendly and chatty. We also walked up the ORME i think that is the correct name. A manageable mountain with a nice road overlooking the sea, when we got almost to the end of the road there were a few houses right on the edge of the sea, and we were told that one of them belonged to Cliff Richard, it was lovely spot. After LLandudno went to Snowdonia and some nice little villages. The Welsh people we met were very nice and friendly. I would like to go back there some time. I had been warned about the Welsh being unfriendly and someone told me that if i were to go alone into a pub they would start to speak Welsh so that i would not understand them. lol. i dont know if that is true as i never went into a pub anyway. The only place I was not too keen on was Rhyll. Where are you living, sorry if its Rhyll. (not sure if that is correct spellng. Hope you are enjoying Wales. nViewDate:

Should smokers, drinkers, drug users and obese people be charged to see the doctor?i used to smoke but gave up about 20 years ago, and really do not want to be near to folks who still smoke as i find the smell really unpleasant, I have known many Doctors and nurses who are serious smokers. They tell me its the stress of the job! I think that to charge those people whose lifestyle is not the same as ones own, is really obnoxious and seriously interfering with the freedom of the individual. Your way of thinking in my opinion is very hard. If a person decides to be a high wire artist, or a mountain climber, or motorbike rider, etc., etc., would you decide that God forbid should they have a bad accident, they are not to be helped by a Doctor?ViewDate:

How Do Single Retired People Not Become Isolated And Alone?i love the way you say you are a recluse and then say you have no friends or relations. ???? not one relation??? I am surprised you are Cornish, most of my Cornish friends are gregarious and always wanting to know everyone elses business Dont you go to the local pub?? Its so much easier for men to go to a pub than a woman. When I first went to Cornwall I decided i would go to a pub, there were about four to choose from. It happened that my American cousin had come to visit and she is like Goldie Hawn on speed. When we went into this Cornish stone pub, called The Radjel there were no women at all but about five real old codgers smoking their pipes they looked up when we entered and the look was one like a Man United group suddenly being disturbed by some lively Arsenal fans. To my horror Mariefrance decided to tell me a dirty joke, in a very loud voice with lots of giggling. OMG i did wonder if we would get out alive at one point, but we did and i pushed her into my car and drove quickly making sure no cars were following us. it was ok for her she left Cornwall two days later, i lived there for another 14 years. If you stay long enough even the most grumpy old chap does eventually grunt "mornin" I love the Cornish they are the best people ) and the young people are the best in UK, They seem to have loads of friends and they nearly all surf from a very young age.ViewDate:

How Do Single Retired People Not Become Isolated And Alone?HI VIV. WHATS THE MATTER WITH YOU MAN? IF YOU DO NOT REALLY KNOW ANYONE IE NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOUR ETC., I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO VOLUNTEER FOR A CHARITY SHOP. WHEN I WENT TO CORNWALL THE FIRST TIME I KNEW ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, SO I WORKED FOR THE AIR AMBULANCE CHARITY SHOP THE OTHER VOLUNTEERS WERE VERY FRIENDLY I MET CUSTOMERS WHO TOLD ME ABOUT DIFFERENT SOCIETIES, ART CLUB ETC., I WAS NEVER WITHOUT FRIENDS AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME FRIENDS EVEN THOUGH I AM LIVING IN EIRE NOW. HOWEVER, I MISS CORNWALL TOO MUCH SO I AM SELLING UP HERE AND GOING BACK TO PENZANCE ASAP. YOU WILL NEVER MAKE ANY FRIENDS IF YOU STAY INDOORS AND LIVE LIKE A RECLUSE. DO NOT WASTE ANY MORE OF YOUR LIFE, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE AND YOU DIE FRIENDLESS AND VERY ALONE. VOLUNTARY WORK IS VERY REWARDING AND YOU WILL I AM SURE ENJOY MEETING VERY NICE PEOPLE, AND I WOULD SAY DONT JUST SAY GOODBYE AT THE END OF THE DAY, ASK SOMEONE TO HAVE A COFFEE OR GO TO A FILM ETC., YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW YOUR LIFE WOULD CHANGE. GOOD LUCK.ViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyyour message made me laugh so thats a good start, dont mind talking late as i am often up reading or online up to 3 or 4am. I get so bored with much of the telly, I am in Eire at present and have just placed an advertisement to sell my apartment so i can go back to beloved Cornwall i miss it sooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I dont know where you live but here in Eire I have been waiting for Summer for an eternity and i think it happened a couple of weeks ago, but now its grey again so no wonder Irish poets and famous Authors usually write deep soul searching and sometimes very depressing stories its because of the miserable weather. alice.ViewDate:

Anyone Found a Means of Earning an Income Solely Onlineif you find it let me know! When i lived in Cornwall and as usual very poor i used to buy in charity shops or auctions in bulk on line and then sell on line or go to the car boots it kept the wolf from the door. I intend to go back to Cornwall soon and its even more expensive there now, so i will definitely have to buy and sell again. Taking care of other peoples animals either daily or holiday times. Car boots the best unless it rains, so only do it on sunny day.ViewDate:

Essex UKWell - I have left Essex now, about 6 months ago. It is a nice county, and convenient to get to London if that's what you would want. My sister used to live in Braintree, and that was the first place I visited in Essex. I lived in Cornwall, then after 15 years I left which was the greatest mistake of my life and I don't know if I will ever get over it. I love being near water, so usually, live near sea or lakes. I lived in Clacton area, not far from the sea, but after a year, I was still missing Cornwall. Then I went over to Spain where my sister lived. I didn't like where she had her place, as it was almost devoid of any history but I called my Granddaughter who was on her GAP year and she joined me and off we went......... my sister, asked "how are you going to travel?" and I said by bus and coach its so cheap and she said "People Die in Coaches". So my darling Granddaughter and I went off to take our chances with the coach trips and railways. What a wonderful Country Spain is it has lovely people, beaches, and the some of the most historic and beautiful Cities in the world. We were there for ten months then my Granddaughter had to go back so we took in France, a few mountain villages where we stayed for 6 weeks at a time. Eventually ended up in Paris, my favourite City. Good job Hitler loved Paris and so didn't bomb it to bits as he did to London. I have ended up in the country of my forebears Eire. It is a beautiful country with friendly people, weather as unpredictable as the UK, and I intend to stay until I get the travel bug again, maybe I will stay, or maybe.........................................??????ViewDate:
