Who would make a better President - Donald or Hillary? The upcoming American Presidential election will be pivotal in deciding where US policies are headed, not only for the next four years, but for years to come. This is because a Trump election will signal a change in attitudes, creating an isolated society with less sensitivity to racial, ethnical, and even gender issues. You can see this in his comments and how he responds to issues that involve these different groups. So to support and vote Trump for President will signal an American society that is no longer interested in the foundations upon which this country was founded. This would in essence render the American Revolution and Civil War as pointless, as this would undermine the reasoning and even it's effects on this country. Whilst I am not a fan of right-wing conservatism and it's attempts to invoke religion into American politics(and schools), anyone running for President is a better selection than Donald Trump.ViewDate:

Religious choiceCelticwitch ,you may not believe in organized religion, but you do have a philosophy in which you have lived your life by. That philosophy defines who you truly are. This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not be false to any man, Farewell , my blessing season this in thee! Local service cuts as needs increaseAll government programs are funded by tax dollars. In theory what you are saying is right, except ,how does the government control rising cost??? This added to the addition to the health cost of immigrants, those granted asylum and refugees putting an additional strain on the system. As these people do not pay taxes therefore the draw on the system is without additional tax revenue, therein lies a moral dilemma, how do we decide who does/does not get medical care, essentially, who lives and who dies????ViewDate:

What do you think about cutting funding of the Police force? One of the primary concerns of any society is it's ability to protect it's citizens. This is generally the responsibility of the local police force/agency, which should be kept trained and equipped to the latest techniques and technology/equipment. This force should be kept financially independent of the citizens and business it protects so as not to give the impression of any favoritism. Any solicitation of funds should be at the local/state government level so as to protect the reputation of the force/agency.ViewDate:

Religious choiceAs all religions have(in theory)the same goal(joining a deity when they die), they take differing paths to achieve this goal. Religion is about using the concept of a deity to control and manipulate it's followers. Technically there is no right/wrong religion as belief(of a deity) is about faith. The existence of a such a being is theoretical ,as it can neither proven/disproven. Ironically ,as most religious literature preaches brotherly love, if such a deity does exist, this deity is shaking their proverbial head at the hypocrisy of the human species.ViewDate:

Has the world became less nice and ethical?Unfortunately, as all things, this is a matter of perspective, which is contingent upon the area where you reside. The surrounding world(as well the UK and USA) abounds with hate, both racial and/or ethnic. Till we accept ourselves as one race(Human Race)this is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.ViewDate:

Has the world became less nice and ethical?I have questioned for years the evolution of attitudes of human beings, from where we have come to where we were headed. There was a time when(society) banded, working as a community through hard times and good. If a family was experiencing financial problems due to sickness and/or lost of a job, we came together to help this family. We helped the disabled, the elderly and in general worked together for the betterment of the community. Today this no longer exists, as most are only interested as to what applies to them. We see this manifest itself in our language (frequent use of profanity), lack of courtesy and respect for others in general. On our highways, in airports, in bus and train stations, it is all about self. The irony of this, no being is an island unto himself, the time comes to all when the help of others is essential to our survival.ViewDate:

Religious choiceOne of my main concerns is religion being incorporated into our school systems, religious education and/or celebrations should be left to religious institutions/leaders, No matter one's position on immigration, the fact is our student population has become diverse, representing all segments(religious concepts, as well as agnostic and atheist) ,putting undue pressure on students whose only concern within the school should be general education.ViewDate:

Finding New friends is harder than you think when your retired !!!Dating sites are rarely a good place to search for a special friend, as most have hidden agendas. I disagree that at 71 you will have to face your remaining years alone, getting out/volunteering and socializing with those from your church, your club and even getting to know people over the net with friendship as the main objective, getting to know them(and they you)and see where it leads. Take your time, enjoy the ride, no matter where it leads.ViewDate:

Religious choicePicking a difference in religion is like apples and oranges, it's subject to the taste (in this case ideology) of the individual. They(Islam and Catholicism, and Christianity in general)have the same roots in Judaism and have embarked upon different paths. In religion, as in politics ,there are extremist, and no sect/religious concept is without them. We, the people of the world, must learn to set aside prejudice (all forms) and respect everyone's rights to live their lives accordingly to their philosophical beliefs. As there is absolutely no way to prove/disprove the existence of any Deity, it is ludicrous to fight/kill in it's name.ViewDate:

Climate evolution and the future of mankind"Forums" was a typo, it was meant to be "life forms". Anytime one looks into the future(or anything there is no existing proof of) ,one can but theorize that which may occur, which alludes to the fact that Stephen Hawkins is a "theoretical physicist', and his theories are but one amongst many, including Prof Brian Cox's theories. Having said such, man's history of evolution and adaptation is factual and speaks for itself as well as his intellectual evolution, which has led to his technological advances. Evolution of environment, both natural and technical, forces evolution of life forms; this is historical fact. As man is forced out into the cosmos ,his technology will evolve to create an environment ,as well his physical being, to adapt to environmental changes. Now if one were to suggest this is all theoretical, one would be absolutely correct. Then again, prediction of anything past this existing moment; is theoretical.ViewDate:

Countdown to disasterGlobal Warming, there are actually a couple of factors at work here: 1- The earth's climate has been in a constant state of transition( evolution, if you will) since it's formation, even without human's polluting the atmosphere the climate would be evolving, though this natural transition took hundreds of thousands of years. 2-Whilst human's are not responsible for earth's evolving climate, their pollution has served greatly to accelerate this process, even were human's not so technology advanced and using wood to heat and cook, the mere population and usage of such fuel(wood) would contribute greatly to the acceleration of this natural transition.ViewDate:

What is....? What if....? Why....?Unfortunately this has been a threat to the world since August 1945, with the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. With the advancement in technology since, these have become even more destructful and/ or horrifying. Unfortunately ,until man learns acceptance of others and how to live in peace, this threat grows on. Once governments discussed and planned "if" , now it's "when". No matter how we sugar coat it to our young, the threat remains there.ViewDate:

Religious choiceAs an Agnostic ,I concur with your impression of organized religion and it's history. Organized religion is about control and manipulation and has little to do with a Deity, except to further it's own cause.ViewDate:

Should smoking be brought back into pubs?Being a social drinker and a non-smoker I find it preferable in a non-smoking establishment.Having said such, were a bar wanting to cater to smoking ,I think they should be able too.But I also think this would mean failure(business failure)in the long run unless they could also create a non-smoking environment(a separate smoke free) within their establishment.I have no desire to eat/drink in a smoking environment, but I respect the rights of others to be able to do so.ViewDate:

Is modern technology really anti-social? Does it get in the way of real, old-fashioned conversation? What do you think and are your experiences. Were one to closely scrutinize the effect of technology on one's ability to socialize, they will see where many "doors" have open through the evolution of socializing via the field of technology.Technology has greatly enhanced our abilities to communicate with individuals throughout the world whom we would not have been able too before.ViewDate:

Is political correctness in our modern society, being taken too far or have we got the balance right? What are your views?Political correctioness is as always, subject to the individual, thus hard to judge as far as necessity. When encountering people from differing cultures/racial/ethnical walks of life(especially those we are unfamiliar with),tis best to error on the side of caution. When it comes to showing respect and/or compassion to others, tis not.
