Christmas Eve boxesI agree with you Pam. I think the idea of Christmas Eve Boxes is just another way for retailers to make even more money. This capitalistic overconsumption is destroying our environment. It's lovely to spend special times with your loved ones on Christmas eve but why not just open a small pressie have some hot chocolate and then off to bed or fill some stockings with the items that you mentioned?ViewDate:

Real or Artificial - What kind of Christmas tree will you have?We have used an artificial tree for over 15 years now and it looks lovely with the special baubles that we have collected over the years which evoke many memories when decorating it. I also believe we should be doing what we can to make the planet a better, greener place and not using a real tree is one small way.ViewDate:

Anyone looking forward to this year's Strictly?Strictly has been on for a few weeks now and I'm enjoying it as much as ever. Ed Balls is certainly entertaining and has managed to stay in the competition. I don't really mind who wins I am just enjoying the costumes, judges remarks and all of the creativity involved in planning the lighting, themes, music, choreography etc. Claudia is very funny and is a good replacement for Brucie. With Len retiring, who will be the new judge? I think Anton would make a good judgeViewDate:

Where do you think the extra runway should be built - Heathrow or Gatwick?Neither, we should be thinking about reducing the number of overall flights and the huge carbon footprints caused by airlines.ViewDate:

London zooI agree with you that animals and birds belong free and uncaged. I haven't visited a zoo in ages because I do not want to support them and believe it is inherently and morally wrong to capture or breed animals that should be out running free.ViewDate:

What kind of birds have you seen in your garden today? My experience with the dried meal worms is that they seem to be more popular in the spring when the parents are feeding their chicks and especially with the early springs and shortage of caterpillars. I know it sounds bit disgusting but I used to soak a few of them in water for a short while before putting them on the bird table and this seemed to encourage them to be taken. I tend not to use the meal worms but have noticed them in my robin bird food mix and they always seem to disappear so you might try adding some in with other seed.ViewDate:

Should all cats wear a bell-collar?Yes, all cats should wear a collar and bell to alert the bird(s) that they are in the vicinity. Millions of birds are killed every year by cats and many of our native species such as thrushes are in decline. Our gardens could be a safe haven for some birds to help compensate for loss of habitat and the bells alerting them to their presence would just help them to avoid these feline killers.ViewDate:

What kind of birds have you seen in your garden today? We have had a sparrow hawk visit us twice in the last week. It is lovely to see her flying up and swooping down through the trees. I have been feeding a lady pheasant that has been visiting our rear garden every afternoon for the past few weeks. When I shake the seed in a plastic container she comes running up and seems so delighted to see me. Probably the food more likely :)ViewDate:

Should The Great British Bake Off remain with the BBC?Bake Off is a lovely gentle programme that is entertaining and offends nobody. I enjoy it very much and it is one of the few programmes I make a point of watching. BBC is quality and I won't be watching Bake off on channel 4 with all of the adverts. BBC is what made Bake Off what it is today and it is a shame that Love Productions repays them by being greedy and demanding loads of money.ViewDate:

Should Punch and Judy be banned at public events?Punch and Judy shows are really just a bit fun and should be treated as such. Not to be taken too seriously and light entertainment to be shared by the whole family.ViewDate:

Is Climate Change really happening?Of course climate change is really happening and mankind is causing it. With over 4.3 billion people on the planet all of them emittting some form of heat and CO2, logically how can we not be affecting the planet? Digging our heels in and denying it will not be helpful to ourselves or our grandchildren. Overpopulation is one of our biggest issues and I believe we should get back to the wartime slogan of 'two will do' that we had during rationing.ViewDate:

Vegetable PatchesI too am very concerned about using poisons or pellets of any sort in our natural world. Last year we tried the wool pellets around our Dahlias and they worked really well. We plan on using them again this year. Hope this helps.ViewDate:

What kind of birds have you seen in your garden today?Saw a flock of busy starlings in our rear garden yesterday including several lighter brown chicks being fed worms and grubs by their darker speckled parents. It was just all go. We haven't spotted our resident sparrow hawk for a while.ViewDate:

What kind of birds have you seen in your garden today? We are delighted to report we spotted our first chick of 2016. It was a lovely blue tit chick near our sunflower seed heart feeder. It was flapping its wings and was fed by its parent. So lovely.ViewDate:

What kind of birds have you seen in your garden today? We have quite a few dunnocks living near the hedge and although they are understated in their appearance it is lovely to see them flitting about. We had a couple of blue tits going into our nesting box but I think it would still be a bit too early for success with only a few caterpillars and insects about. I am looking forward to reports of any sightings of fledglings or chicks.ViewDate:

Roasted Vegetable LasagneI made this recipe over the Easter Holidays and it was very scrummy. My daughter is a vegetarian and whilst I am not a vegetarian myself I do enjoy eating vegetarian dishes as they are often full of flavour. Everyone enjoyed this one and I would highly recommend it.ViewDate:

Birdwatching.Thank you for sharing about your blackbird 'nest building'. The only nest building I have seen so far have been a pair of crows gathering sticks and twigs. Some people don't care for crows but I like all types of birds and feel they all have their place in nature. My neighbor unfortunately has 4 moggies as she likes rescuing cats bless her however we bought them all collars with bells to help the birds.ViewDate:

Will you be buying any Cadbury Creme Eggs this year?I am surprised and disappointed to find out that Cadbury products are halal and I won't be purchasing them anymore. I never cared for their sickly sweet crème eggs but did used to enjoy the Cadbury milk chocolate. -
