TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hello David, thank for the information I have just come back from a Just You holiday, we went to Prague, Vienna and Budapest and the weather was beautiful, really warm and I packed a couple of fleeces! I really don't fancy your suggestions but thank you anyway.ViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hello to all interested in going somewhere for Christmas sorry I hadn't replied sooner I didn't think anyone had replied. Any suggestions, hotel, apartment, villa and where? Somewhere warm Cyprus, Greece or colder as in Switzerland etc? I can't seem to find the main thread all the replies have been separated I think. Group holidays for age 50+ solo travellersI keep trying to arrange meet ups too, maybe just book a house or something somewhere nice for a group of people. Only trouble is we are spread all over the UK and the world.ViewDate:

Holiday companionsIt wouldn't hurt to go to a first meeting to see if you could get to like it, if you didn't you need never go again, I think with all 'meeting groups' there is probably always one or two that don't get on with other people. I'm not a member as such but did go to an open meeting to see what they do, there are quite a few groups, walking, gardening even knitting.ViewDate:

Days out, Weekends AwayHello Jacquiwren, Sorry I hadn't seen your post before, same problems as most have on here probably. It was just an idea really that I put out there and I didn't actual get much response. You could try listing something similar yourself you might have better luck. RegardsViewDate:

Group holidays for age 50+ solo travellersI went to Bulgaria with Solitaire singles holidays and the 'group' consisted of me and 2 other ladies who didn't get on one bit, and took every opportunity to talk to me about the other one. I'm not one for being nasty and tried to keep the peace and at one time intervened in a 'debate'! The hotel was like Butlins and the rooms very shabby and we paid £400 more than Thompsons even with their single supplement. When I complained; as did the other two ladies, Solitaire didn't want to know. The country of Bulgaria is nice and we all did our own thing which I don't really mind but it wasn't my idea of a 'group' holiday.ViewDate:

Days out, Weekends AwayNot sure how to go about arranging this with regard to putting down on deposits, obviously people are not going to send money to a complete stranger so any suggestions of a weekend break. Hotel etc where we can all book independently. What area's would people find the most interesting? If I get enough response I'll look at somewhere most popular. Derbyshire Norfolk Suffolk Lincolnshire Dorset Rutland To name but a few.ViewDate:

What am I doing wrong?Maybe it is time to stop looking and to make the most of each day in whatever place you happen to be. I've had my fair share of disasters and still have lot's of uncertainty in my life, but the good thing is I don't share the dreadful condition that some people do. This is about me and I'm certainly not preaching. Having had so much sadness in my life I tend to take each day as it comes. It is lovely to see two people still caring and sharing and looking after each other and enjoying life together, something not everyone has experienced. Maybe being on here and just making friends and even meeting up will give some happiness and enjoyment if we all make an effort, after all we are on here because we want to travel and make friends, lets get on with it.ViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?I did try and ask if anyone would like to meet up for a weekend away in UK to see how we got on before committing a week or two away with a stranger. There was very little response. I do have two double B&B rooms and space for a couple of camper vans or even tents; no facilities outside other than a tap though. This isn't a commercial message, apart from the two bedrooms, but a get together type idea. What does anyone think, I'm in Wisbech area, Cambridgeshire?ViewDate:

Days out, Weekends AwayThank you all for your interest, if you all want to give a suggestion of where you would like to go and what your interests are, I will look for places to go. Maybe a market or auction, even a Country Fair? I'm sorry I had noticed the replies before and hadn't been notified but will look now on a regular basis.ViewDate:
