millimenopause's bio
I am a former lecturer and in a past life a nurse. I am trying to enjoy my silver years despite having painful arthritis, which poses daily challenges to my health. I am told by friends that what doesn't kill you in life makes you stronger, by that reckoning I should be as strong as an ox! -

Should same-sex couples be allowed to get married in a church?Major Red. I find it quite difficult to understand why anyone in 21st century can believe in God, but I wouldn't bzn you from taking part in any form of normal life, that the rest of us enjoy just because you are the way you are. To have no contct with 3 members of your family over your beliefs is uour loss not theirs. I would have my doubts about any guy that hung around eith 12 other guys. Still I suppose the scientist's who have shown how old the earth actually is, dhould be dismissed in favour of a book wifh no proven author or someone nobody has ever seen.ViewDate:

Should same-sex couples be allowed to get married in a church?I think that they just want to be treated equally and fairly, not special treatment, they already receive " special" treatment by bring treated as less than.ViewDate:

Should same-sex couples be allowed to get married in a church? If you are prepared to say gay people shouldn't be allowed to marry in a church, then it follows that you see their right to equality invalid. However you dress it up.ViewDate:

Should same-sex couples be allowed to get married in a church?I am astounded how many so called good christian people harbour such draconian views. The law is quite clear on equality as is the human rights act. Why should the Church be exempt from such laws. If you choose to believe in the sky fairy that is your choice, but defying the law on equality, or quoting bits from a book supposedly written about a guy who hung out with 12 other men to justify your views is ridiculous. Grow up and practice what you preach and do try yo open up your minds.ViewDate:

Should Donald Trump be prevented from making a State Visit to the UK?Governments cosy up yo whoever they can sell arms too. Thatcher was buddies with Pinochet. It makes me smile when ghe media go after Corbyn like they do regarding being a so called terrorist sympathiser ( means having a different view about the way Israel behaves) whilst selling massive amounts of arms to the Saudis who fjnd all kinds of terrorism and mayhem in the middle east. They also get to go yo Buck house.ViewDate:

Should Donald Trump be prevented from making a State Visit to the UK?We may not like what he stands for ( I certainly don't) but he is the democratically elected leader of thd USA and therefore shohld be seen as such. Teresa Maybe or Maynot should not be sucking up to him in ghe way she has, that is cringe worthy and ill advised at such an early point. The way you defeat this kind of person is via riddicule and embarrassment, programs like spittjng image etc. I dont think we shall have to wait long for a colossal mistake and ghen thd citizens of the US will rid themselves of him. The reason he got yo the Whitehouse is because of the arrogance of the democrats putting Clinton up as the candidate. The baggage she took into the race just put peoples back up ax dhe was seen as the establishment candidate and thats what people the world ovef are tired of, so you end up with an idiot for President. ( hey the UK has big bird Boris as the foreign Secretary)ViewDate:

Are the Government right to do a Pension U-turn?Yet another shafting by the Pension Service. Lets have a vote on how much MPs should gdt by way of a pension funded by the taxpayer. Add into thd mix at what age they are allowed to claim it. Lets also add how much they should be allowed by way of perks and expenses. Lets see them do a U turn on all that a vote for a pay cut. Greedy, selfish.ViewDate:

Do you take HRT?That really depends on what studies or reports you have read. I have not read anything yet that has convinced me that I am in more danger than being hit by a car when crossing the road.ViewDate:

Do you take HRT?I had previously been on HRT in gel form for 5 years. My GP advised after the 5 years that perhaps it was better to come off it, as my mother had breast cancer and had a partial mastectomy for it several years ago. I have 2 yearly very through mammograms here in France. The guy I see his top of his field apparently, you get the mammogram, a hands on check and the results are discussed with you there and then. As a back up, the results are then sent off to Paris to be secondary checked. I get a packet back within about 3 weeks with all the xrays, results and conclusion report. I asked my GP if I could go back on the gel recently, after an 18 month rest, because I think that I am better on it, less hot flushes, fewer mood swings and generally feel better. I know the risks (I was a nurse in the UK), I have read all kinds of reports both for and against and I have concluded that its worth the risk. I am equally at risk of cancer by standing at the side of my vehicle filling it up with diesel or petrol or living near a telephone mask, as I do. I am regularly checked by the medical professionals here, I check myself so I am quite happy to continue to take it. I guess when my time is up its up and no amount of worrying about that time will change anything. So as they say here in France c'est la vieViewDate:

Do you think we’re facing chaos now we’re leaving the EU?And lets add to that all those who are claiming MEP salaries (You know the gravy train all the exiteers went on about) resign their seats today and their salaries stop being paid as of today.ViewDate:

Do you think we’re facing chaos now we’re leaving the EU?Already this morning, two Leave camp campaigners, an MEP and and MP saying..... lets not rush into things, lets stay calm and the MEP said "Ive have been campagining to leave for 26 years, we won't be able to stop immigration for a while" already back tracking and those who voted out and those who didn't even vote will now see that homegrown policies were mostly to blame for your woes and you think that is going to get any easier? Not one bit. You reap what you sow.ViewDate:

Do you rinse your dishes before placing them in the dishwasher? If they are really dirty with say gravy or sauce then yes. I keep telling MOH that if he puts the saucepans in without using lemon and the scouring pad first, they just come out with the same old marks on them, they are old just like us and I am proven right every time. You also need to put a cleaner (lemon and 1tsp sodium bicarb in a small dish) through the dishwasher every now and then it helps remove the scum in the bottom of the dishwasher. -
