The 60s ... What did like best about the 60s?Newcastle on Tyne was the place to be in the 60's. The clubs were The Marimba, The New Orleans Jazz, The Muscle In, The Downbeat where the Animals started, and the Club aGo-go was the best, to name but a few. Anyone remember the Newcastle clubs? - have a look at the Club aGo-go website which also has memories and old photos of other clubs, memories from musicians and of club go-ers. - All of the 60's.ViewDate:

Should the law be changed on naming and shaming the accused?I do wonder how many people fantasise about famous people, and over the years actually believe their own 'stories'. To accuse somebody and ruin their reputation is totally wrong. And to run a media campaign based on unproven 'evidence' is even more wrong. I hope in this current case that Sir R. does sue the Beeb.ViewDate:

Do you renew your insurance policies on a comparison website or via a broker?I don't change insurer for my Buildings Insurance, but I do ring them and haggle the price. Have always felt that if I needed to claim say for subsidence any new insurer flips out and claims the damage started before their cover started. So safer to stay with the same policy.ViewDate:

Should cannabis be legalised for medicinal reasons?I don't really know enough to comment on this, but I was very taken with the Coronation Street storyline and really believe people in such pain should be helped and if Cannibis does it, then help them !ViewDate:

Would you prefer the date of Easter to be fixed?Don't we get a Bank Holiday, not a religious holiday? So shouldn't we be able to fix the BH date without reference to Easter. So the BH could be say on the 3rd weekend in April, then the weather may be good, people can enjoy their time off. Also, the school term becomes unbalanced when Easter moves about. The BH should be mid way between Christmas and Summer - this year that would have been 17th April instead of 25th March. Families would be better able to plan their break with a set dateViewDate:

Single for a reason?Oh what a wonderful letter Kirsty. Like others I hope you make this a regular Blurb - the Kirsty Column perhaps. Its a rare gift to be able to write exactly as the thought comes. Myself I have to read it over, re-read, rewrite, put things in, take out again and then put back because I can't think how else to put it ! Would love to meet you in Rome, but then my husband might mind - hopefully he would mind anyway. We married when I was 51 (at the time thought I was ancient) and he was 61, both 2nd timers. Can recommend wrinkley marriage but its hard work when both set in old ways, lots of give and take. I've just responded elsewhere to tell someone about U3A if you need to meet new people. There are branches all over (I have 4 within 7 miles). They have a website and mine has 40 social interest groups. It has been a godsend because we have just moved here and know no-one and like you family just don't bother. The diary is full of things like Dining out - Board games when it rains, Walking, Gardening, and others who would go on holiday if someone would just arrange it, - and definately no jam making.ViewDate:

Introducing myselfHi Rozie. Am not much older than you and I too remember the Blues Clubs. Mine were in Newcastle where I followed the (now) Animals and a very young Rolling Stones. I recently discovered my favourite club had a website devoted to memories of the good old days, lots of old photos and they welcomed my notes, edited them and included the odd bit into their Blurb ! Perhaps your favourite old haunt has the same? On a more Now theme, I have just recently moved to this area, knew no-one, no family and my 15 year old puppy has gone to the great kennel - my godsend has been joining U3A, wonderful ! They are a national organisation with a website and branches absolutely everywhere (I have 4 within 7 miles). My branch has its own website and lists around 40 social interest groups from Walking (dogs welcome) to Dining out, Board games, if your interest isn't listed you are encouraged to start one! I have got to know so many nice people (our branch has over 300 members), my phone rings and my diary is full including trips and holidays with them. Can totally recommend.ViewDate:

Should Britain stay in the EU or is now the time to leave?Dear Mr. Crow You have written much about how 'old people' should feel, vote; - and not feel because we are too old to feel any sort of impact after! But we Do feel, just because it was our generation who got us into all this, and just because it is our own families who are to be affected. You write "Sadly I have come to the conclusion that older people are not aware of how society works today and do not know what is possible in the world and what is not" HOW DARE YOU !ViewDate:

Should Britain stay in the EU or is now the time to leave?I read all the articles, some useful information, but at the end of the day I will vote a very big NO because the thought of 'greater political union' horrifies me. Did we not fight 2 World Wars to stop German dominence?
