Will the addition of Meghan Markle to the Royal Family help modernise the Monarchy?I am afraid I am tired of the subject already. I am sure there are more newsworthy items than the walkabout in Nottingham by the new couple, the first item on the news this morning. This is a young man who proclaimed that neither he or his brother really wanted to be king and an actress who appears on American television. I am sure they are both pleasant people but I have no wish to read about them every day from now until next May.ViewDate:

Is “old” an age or an attitude?Ageing is much better than the alternative! It is also a state of mind. Our society, however, is obsessed by youth, as depicted in the media, but this is best ignored. Enjoy life while you are able is my philosophy.ViewDate:

Would you use Skype to see a GP over a face-to-face appointment? My surgery offers brief telephone appointments with a GP which are quite effective. I do not imagine that a Skype call would be any more effective.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?Home Going by Yaa Gyasi Has anyone else read this novel? If so, do you think it lived up to the reviews?ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?I've just finished reading The Underground Railroad by Collin Whitehead. It is the story of 2 slaves, Cora and Caesar in the southeastern United States in the 1880's. They make a bid for freedom using the Underground Railroad. It's a harrowing but riveting read. I highly recommend the novel.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading? It is since quite a while since I read 'The Minituarist' and that with in a book group. As I recall, we were all a little disappointed with the novel, it did not live up to the hype.ViewDate:

Would you want to take your dog on holiday with you if you could?I have taken my dog, a Border Terrier, Milo, on holiday with me in the UK ever since he was a puppy. I never knew dog friendly hotels existed until I acquired a dog. He has been on trains, the London Underground, boats and in the car, but I'm not comfortable with the thought of him on a plane? Any ideas or suggestions?ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?I read the 'Kite Runner' several years ago. It was a 'word of mouth' book at that time. It was a devasting read but I knew nothing about Afghanistan prior to the Russian invasion and the Taliban so I learned a lot. I've also read 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' by Khalid Hosseini which is well worth reading.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?I've just finished reading a series of novels by Ely Griffiths. Thee are set in Norfolk and although they are "crime' they feature an archaeologist Dr Ruth Galloway. The same characters appear in each book, and what I enjoyed was the way in which the author developed the characters throughout the series. At present I am reading 'Carte Postales' by Victoria Hislop.ViewDate:

Poldark or Diana: In Her Own Words?Neither, I have never watched Poldark, it simply didn't appeal to me. As for Diana, I cannot understand all the present media coverage. She died 20 years ago.To keep raking over her life is pointless and unnecessary.ViewDate:

Calling all Dog lovers ... join in with our Dog Chat!I thought long and hard before getting my dog, but 3 years on, I couldn't imagine my life without him. He is a border terrier with all the terrier characteristics except chasing other small animals, he's a pacifist dog. My partner and I take him everywhere with us, we are now experts on dog friendly hotels and areas. I never realised the dog walking community existed and What a pleasure it is to meet them and their canine companions.ViewDate:

The best of Leonard CohenFamous Blue Raincoat. I went to all his shows at the O2 when he resumed touring. They were magical, he must be the only person who could make the O2 feel like an intimate, small venue.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Summer 2017I have recently discovered an author new to me, Elly Griffiths. It's a series of novels featuring a forensic archaeologist, Dr Ruth Galloway. They are all set in North Norfolk and are worth a read.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Summer 2017I quite enjoyed The Couple Next Door but wouldn't rush to read another by the author. I thoroughly enjoyed Small Great Things. Over the years I have read most of Jodi Picoult's novels but felt that they were becoming too sentimental. For me, Small Great Things was a return to form.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Spring 2017I also enjoyed this book but many comments on "goodreads' were negative. Comparisons to 'Girl on the Train' were made, a novel I felt was over rated.ViewDate:
