Peter’s Gardening tips for August 2016Hi Peter, I've left a part of my lawn to grow long and, earlier this year, I planted some wild flower seeds, but the grass has grown so thick and long I cant see how they will grow through it and its now looking quite a mess! I'm tempted to mow it down again, but feel as though I'm letting nature down a little by doing so. Any ideas please. Thank you.ViewDate:

Crafts with grandchildren: build a bird feederI love seeing the birds in my garden especially when they have a bath in the bird bath. I did have a bird feeder and the birds used to come to feed daily. However, not so long ago, I saw a rat come from under my shed and start to feed on the dropped pieces of feed. I then swept these away and moved the food to the bird table, only to see the rat actually run up the table and start to eat the food. When I went outside to remove the table the rat disappeared under the shed. I have not put any food out since. My granddaughter used to love to put the food out for the birds, but I am reluctant to do this again, because of the rat(s).
