Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town?So why was the Poll Tax stupid? Surely people use services so people should pay. We live in a house of two people and next door live in a house of six people (adults). We pay more council tax than they do. How can that be fair? If we had the poll tax they would be paying per person, just as we would and then that would be fair.ViewDate:

Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town?Let the miners down - are you for real ?!! Arthur Scargill let the miners down. He used them in his own political game and tried to bring the country to a standstill - well in fact he more or less did. Would you suggest that he should have been allowed to continue like that. Miners strikes had been going on for years when MT came to power. It took her determination to bring to an end a period of industrial misery and put Britain on a path to much great prosperity and stability. We were the 'sick man of Europe' and had to be bailed at by the IMF under Wilson.ViewDate:

Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town?Austerity (which I imagine is what is the cause of the misery inflicted on the poor) was a direct result of the profligacy of Tony Blair's government.ViewDate:

Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town? She was undoubtedly an exceptional PM and although far from perfect she turned this country around and effectively saved it from the period of total self destruction it was being dragged through by the over powerful and arrogant union bosses. She was the first female PM in the whole of the Western world which is another factor making her worthy of a statue - but in Parliament.ViewDate:

Should a statue of Margaret Thatcher be erected in her home town?well said. Very few people appear to know (or acknowledge) that Harold Wilson did more harm to coal miners that Margaret Thatcher. Agree about London statue. In Parliament.ViewDate:

Do you use an open fire or wood burning stove? We love the atmosphere and warmth created by a woodburner and as we do not have any other fuel option than oil, it makes a nice alternative and saves on some oil use.
