What am I doing wrong?Thank you for this reply. My late partner always used to ask me if I was happy. I always seemed to have something in the way. Now I live alone , try my best to help out where i can. I always seem to be happier in the company of older people. Currently I am taking my 95 year old friend to various hospital appointments. She is such good company. I tell myself that this is the situation and to accept it - your post made such sense to me. I hope one day to find contentment and be at ease with myself.ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi, Sounds lovely, living on Dartmoor. When I was a child we lived in Plymouth and my brothers used to take me to Dartmoor on their scooters. My social life is like yours - non existent. I have a 95 year old friend and she goes out more than I do !! I have been on my own for 5 years , no family and no siblings in the town. I too, couldnt go on holiday on my own though my friend does. I volunteer with a group which deals with clients who have had brain injuries. I did a few more things but had a spell of bad health last December and I am just coming out the other side of it. I joined this site as I struggle some days, especially weekends.ViewDate:

New to SilversurfersAm also a new member. I am coming up fast to 63 but took early retirement 5 years ago from Herts County Council. Due to bereavement I am living on my own , no family in the town and no children of my own. It gets lonely sometimes, its a town that doesnt really cater for my age group . I try to keep moving, particularly walking which is my favourite form of exercise. I am interested in watching sport, reading, listening to the radio and crime dramas especially the Law and Order series. I volunteer which means I have met some good friends !
