TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Peter, No, nobody (apart from yourself) has contacted me regarding Las Vegas. I don't think I have seen anything about it on this forum either!! It holds no appeal for me sorry to say (I don't have any strong objections to gambling by the way). For all its wealth and glitz it just looks over the top, false and tacky!! I would rather spend my money (I am not a wealthy woman LOL) seeing New York or Chicago maybe. We all like different things Peter. RegardsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Terry, nice to hear from you! I started writing a bit of a rambling reply which I was really getting in to and then something happened on my phone - which is not in the best condition because I have dropped it a few times LOL and the whole messaged vanished!! If you fancy a chat about Cuba, South Africa or anywhere else, my email is [email protected]. I don't log on to this site very much as I have not found very much interest in the type of travel that I enjoy plus I think a lot of people on here are only communicating with people who live quite close to them which I suppose is understandable. I live in Manchester but I would definitely travel with somebody who lived say in Brighton (that's pretty far away from Manchester! LOL) if I thought we shared the same travel interests and got on really well in other areas. Anyway my email is above if you fancy getting in touch. Regards BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Terry, it is a long time since I did anything vaguely "adrenalin" - paragliding over Pendle Hill in Lancashire (solo) and some amazing tandem paragliding in Turkey (Olu Deniz) back in the 90's springs to mind! Time marches on, I turn 67 this November!! I managed to fall off a push bike a few weeks ago, nearly crashed into a tractor on the island of Sark, Guernsey CI. There is supposed to be no motorised transport on the island but all the island residents own tractors and quad bikes ! I would love to carry on travelling and seeing as much of the world - near and far - as I possibly can but I think camping and hostels - much as I enjoyed the bit that I did, have been replaced by hotels these days. I am way too young and will always be way too young to go on a cruise!!! It will never happen. Apologies if it is an activity you enjoy . The thought of setting foot in Dubai or anywhere in the Persian Gulf plus Las Vegas, also horrifies me!! Everywhere else?? Bring it on! Regards BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?I didn't know Swaziland was now called Eswatini!! Nice one!! I would love to visit Namibia. It looks absolutely stunning! I would like my next "port of call" to be Cuba - was all set to go in Jan 2020 then Thomas Cook went bump. I got my money back for myself and a friend who was coming with me and ended up going for a week to Cabo Verde solo as my friend is not keen on anything even vaguely "African". So nice that travel around the world is opening up again!! Regards BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Safariman, I would love to visit Cape Town! I have been to South Africa (2009), staying in a place called Marloth Park just south of the Kruger National Park. I also managed a quick visit to Swaziland and a day out in Maputo, Mozambique.ViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Adie, I am definitely still interested in doing a trip like this. It's a long time since I went slightly off the beaten track travel-wise (South Africa 2009). Only Europe and Cape Verde (Jan 2020) since then. I am not a big user of this site and sometimes it has been months without a visit. If you are interested, I would definitely like to know how your plans are going forward. It may be better to keep in touch via email or phone (WhatsApp). Let me know, I will give you my number/email or you let me have yours. BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Adie, It does sound interesting indeed! The only problem possibly on my side would be that I don't drive if driving is involved on this trip. Public transport is no problem, I have used trains, buses and various forms of what in some cases could be laughingly described as "taxis", around a good few parts of the world and had a lot of fun with it too sometimes!! So, other than the driving (I am a good navigator though!!) I am all ears!! Regards BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Whiteeagle17, I fancy going to Chile, some fab wines and the dryest desert on the planet (I think) or is that the Namib?? Not sure. I think I am the same age as you with not too many aches and pains so pretty sure I would be able to hack it!! I am intrigued!! BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Susan, Thanks for your reply, I would definitely love to see some more of South Africa and also maybe Namibia - that country also fascinates me. It all depends on when Covid restrictions allow. I have been fully vaccinated - two Astra Zenica jabs. The UK are doing very very well with our vaccination roll out but it all depends on how the rest of the world is coping as well! How are things going in South Africa? Are you in any sort of lockdown? I am really interested to know how you are coping/dealing with it all. Regards BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Susan, I read your post a few days back and found it very interesting. I travelled to South Africa back in 2009 and stayed in a place called Marloth Park on the south east edge of the Kruger National Park. I got to see a lot of the Kruger, the area around Blyde Canyon (gorgeous), a little bit of Swaziland and also I got on a trip from Marloth Park to Maputo, Mozambique which was an experience and very enjoyable too!! The person whom I stayed with is very much an animal lover and a good photographer too and not very interested in seeing more of South Africa so Marloth Park is where she wants to stay and enjoy herself. I myself would love to see a lot more of this country and your post on this website intrigued me. If you want to know any more about me, I would love to hear from you. BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?I am well thanks. Things here are OK. Weather - mild, crocus everywhere. Had my first jab on 12 Feb, I turned 66 last November but got my invite slightly early probably due to having worked for 8 years in a local GP Practice -admin/IT stuff, I got my invite via text from the local Clinical Commissioning Group. The only bit of Surrey I am familiar with is around Addlestone and Weybridge where an aunt of mine lived - passed away in the late 90's, fabulous lady, I miss her.ViewDate:

I have seen you post in another part of this site where you say you were born in Sri Lanka.. I have been there!!! Back in 1999 I visited there with my daughter, it's a lovely place! It's difficult to go anywhere at the moment with this covid-19 lockdown. Hopefully next year things will be some where near back to normal! LOL Regards BabsViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi, I am a 65 year old (nearly, birthday in November) single lady who is retiring from work at the end of this year. I love to travel and have done quite extensively over the years with family and friends. Am now considering dipping my toe into some solo travel so would love a bit of advice from anyone around my age who is doing it/done it. Also anybody interested in joining me in a nice holiday somewhere. Worldwide, Europe, city breaks, whatever/wherever!! As mentioned above, retiring at the end of the year so no time restrictions. I live in the Manchester area but am open to meeting/talking to both ladies and gents from near and far. I am looking to go on a one week all inclusive to the Cape Verde islands this coming January. I do need a nice week just lazing in some winter sunshine so this would be my start to a bit of solo travel. Anybody been there? I know there is not that much to do there outside of the holiday complexes but the beaches do look amazing.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?I have just started reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I think a lot of people have read this already - I have only just got around to it. It is intriguing because the main character's are so unlikeableViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hello, I have only just joined in the last couple of days. I am from Manchester, 61 years old, single, with two adult children and three grandchildren. I am still working - still have a mortgage unfortunately I have already chatted to a couple of people regarding travel and am looking forward to making some nice friends on here. At the moment, I am in Gran Canaria on holiday with my granddaughter. When I get back to Manchester, I will write up a proper profile for myself. Please anyone, feel free to introduce yourselves. The PensionI was born November 1954. Have to wait until November 2020 for my State pension. I do still have a mortgage - which I was very lucky to get which does not finish until January 2019. So I am glad the pension age has risen for that one thing only. My mum was an extremely active lady and she did actually resent having to retire at 60!!!! 66 will be more than fine for me.ViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?I would love to try this, usually travel with family or friends and have also done a couple of solo trips. I am keen to visit the Cape Verde islands but no one I know seems to be interested. I will probably go solo but would not mind nowing if anyone on here would be interested. I am 61 years old, still working, single and live in Manchester. Like I mentioned before, family and friends not keen. It would be some time in 2017.
