Alcohol dependencyHi, I am so sorry to hear what your going through, I can empathise, I was that person I was drinking a bottle, sometimes 2, of wine nightly, my excuse, I was alone after divorce, I began to feel lifeless, very ill, my body wasn't functioning at all, but I still drank, I have not been to AA or other, I looked at pictures on internet of damaged liver, I saw why I had pain in my liver, I read about the damage the drink was/had done to me, I cut down ....best way rather than cold turkey....till now I have 2 maybe 3 bottles a week...and honestly, I will cut down more, its a slow process, its neccassary if I wanna live a wee bit longer lol,, show him/ask him to look and read, it worked for me, God Bless, I hope it works for you/him xViewDate:

Dear Spiderbrilliant, made me smile, thank you.... and as for not getting up to mischief, I was walking past a row of terraced house's last week, on my way to a store, and I knocked on a door and ran, just wanted a reminder of my past life lol, have to say the "ran"....wasn't anywhere near as fast as i could do 40 years ago, lol, but it made me giggle for a minute, sometimes I just need a little laughter in my life. I promise not to do it again, my knees still hurting lol, keep well Cate.ViewDate:

Home Meal deliverywhat I did was make more and freeze it, corn beef ash, lobby, casserole's, pies etc, then take them to my Mum for her freezer, to which her carer placed them in microwave, I, at least knew she was getting good nourishment and she lived to 87, still missed now 4 years on, otherwise they sell good dinners and deserts in most supermarkets who will deliver and even place them in the freezer for him, lot cheaper and chosen by your Dad, might be an idea ???ViewDate:

Are you a Grandparent?I have been quite amazed at the ages we became Grandparents after reading messages on this forum, I was 55 when my first Grandchild were born and since he there have been 2 more, so at 66 I now have 3 Grandsons to 2 of my children, all my blessings. My own Mother was 40 when I had my first child and she became Granma, as were many those day, most of my friends had children at 18/19 like myself, I was married at 18 and had my first child one year later, went on to have 2 more, so have 3 children myself, one of each is my way of describing them as my eldest child is gay and getting married next year, I was married 26 years when my husband decided I had become too old for his mind and he left me for a woman who was 18 years my junior, who left him when she had spent all his money....Karma...though personally I don't believe in Karma, if it existed at all I WOULD have won the lottery by now, lol. Hope you are all well and enjoying the warmth of Autumn xViewDate:

How do I start to move my Mum nearer to me?Have you tried your local council offices, would your Mum be prepared to live in sheltered accomodation, where the seniors have their own front door, usually in a block of flats, sometimes a bungalow, where there is a warden with 24 hour alarm system/call button for emergencies, your local council can advise and they are everywhere, no doubt one close to where you live, there are 3 near me and loads around
