Would you feel comfortable going cashless?I use my card or phone to pay quite often but sometimes find that the card machines are not always reliable, this needs to be 100% . I’m 68 and manage quite well with technology but I feel for the people that don’t have the technology or don’t know how to use it. I think it’s only a matter of time cash will be a thing of the past, it’s inevitable as day is night etc.ViewDate:

Is automation a good thing?I said no, but this is what technology has brought upon us, not only does it take away employment but it, in most cases, mass produces everything and then there is so much waste. Waste only adds to the environmental disaster that is causing so many problems. Unless someone comes up with something to slow this down what state will the world be in 100 years down the road.ViewDate:

Should the State Pension be means tested? No. Like most of the others I have worked all my life and have paid for my pension. Why should people who have paid their way all their working life be means tested. The younger generation should be made to think about providing for themselves before it's to late.ViewDate:

Do you think Scotland should hold a second referendum? So agree with you Sherrybee, I have said this all along. There are so many bad things going on in the world and as a small island we need to stand together.ViewDate:

Do you think Scotland should hold a second referendum?I think that Should spend her time looking after Scotland instead of wasting taxpayers money, she only has one aim in life and that is going to ruin Scotland. Wake up Nicola and "smell the whisky" do what is right for your country and not your ego.ViewDate:

Do you keep your ketchup in the fridge? When we were kids everything was kept in the cupboard, tomato sauce, jam, marmalade etc, etc now all of a sudden everything has to be stored in the fridge. I think it's ridiculous, I don't want cold sauce, cold jam, cold anything. It's like mayonnaise stored in the fridge you can't squeeze it out because it's that bloody cold. It's health and safety again gone mad.ViewDate:

Is sleeping in separate beds the beginning of the end?My wife and I started sleeping in separate beds after she had a hip replacement op initially to allow her have space and for me to get a good nights sleep so I could help her recovery. After about 3 months we had a chat about it and decided to give it a try. After about 8 months we both agree that it works well for us. It doesn't mean we don't love each other, in fact I feel after a good nights sleep we work better together. I have spoken to some of our friends and they agree.ViewDate:

Should parents in Britain be banned from smacking their children?I was smacked as a child, it was when you use to get whacked round the head, and some of the smacks we use to get, well, yes that should be stopped but disciplining your children is not about beating them. The world has gone from one extreme to another and the outcome is hoards of unruly children who think they can do as they like. I don't expect every kid to sit tied to a chair but when you're out at the pub for a meal you don't want screaming kids running around.ViewDate:

Do you ever take an afternoon nap?I am retired and I do keep active, dog walking, gardening and small jobs around the place in general. I have health issues and attend rehabilitation, also help to look after the grandkids. If I do have 40 winks that's all it is. Don't do it everyday so what's the harm.ViewDate:

Will you be sending Christmas cards this year?We send Xmas cards to family and close friends but quite a lot of them are donating to charity, so for the last couple of years we have cut our list and donate to cancer research, we have chosen this charity because cancer has played a big part in our lives for the last 8years and feel any contribution to help get a better life for people who struggle with it is worth it.ViewDate:

Anyone got any good tips to stop cats fouling garden?Hi Patti, just before I read your post I ordered some lion dung, which has arrived. I am going to experiment in different parts of the garden, I know there is a lot of disagreement between people over cats, a very emotive subject, I own a dog and there are good and bad owners there, I like to think I am a good one, when we are out I will clean up after her, it's different with cats and I understand that but it's so frustrating when you go round the garden and find little heaps. I'll try the lion dung and hopefully it will go some way to solving the issue. Have a good Xmas.ViewDate:

Anyone got any good tips to stop cats fouling garden?Hi Angela, I'm glad I have come across your post, I recently asked the same question on a, supposedly, garden friendly site at was met by torades of abuse. I have been out in the garden this last couple of days cleaning up after the cats, and am trying out a variety of suggestions, moth balls, cat pepper and small sticks pointing out of the soil. I have also ordered some lion dung. I will post again as soon as I have some results, good luck Angela. Cactus.ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi Lionel, don't apologise about replying, I'm not on everyday so reply when you feel up to it, and I will do the same within a couple of days. I'm not long back from town, which is Derby, I met a few mates of mine a we had 2 or 3 drinks for Xmas, me being the sensible one left after 3. It was good just to meet. I'm out again tomorrow night for a meal with some other friends. It's that time of the year eh. Sorry to hear about your fish, it's heart breaking when something like that happens, luckily most of my fish were "gifted" to me, I was like the rspca to fish, somebody's pond sprung a leak, so they would bring their fish, someone else's lads goldfish had outgrown the fish bowl etc, etc. I have about 25 fish at the moment from koi through to goldfish. Hope your new stocks goes on ok.. Right I'm going for a cuppa, get back to me when you're ready. All the best Lionel Cactus.ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi Lionel, good to meet you, I wondered about the male/female ratio. I am not an accomplished gardener by a long shot, I use to work for British Gas, in the early days I was digging trenches to put new gas pipes/mains in. I done my fair share of digging at work so didn't do it at home. I have my fish pond, nice to sit out on a warm evening listening to the water, that area gets the sun very nicely that time of day. The other part of the garden is paved and I have some planters etc dotted round the place. Bella, my Jack Russell crossed with a wire haired Terrier, was 9 years old a couple of weeks ago, she's a monkey, but great company good with the grandkids, and she keeps us on our toes. Given half a chance she would be a great ratter. Sorry to hear your wife is poorly, but good to know the dogs look after her. Anyway Lionel it's bedtime for me, but I'll look out for you and carry on our chat. Look after yourself. Cactus.ViewDate:

Should smoking be brought back into pubs?Firstly I am an ex smoker, I don't begrudge anyone a cigarette. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009 and had my right lung removed, after that I struggled with my breathing and was eventually diagnosed with COPD. I'm still here, not as fit as I use to be. I said no to smoking returning to pubs, I enjoy going to the pub for a couple of pints and meet friends, watch football etc. If smoking came back into pubs there are a lot of people like me who would not be able to go in a pub. I'm sorry if you think I'm being selfish but I can't sit around smokers. I understand what ban has done to the pubs, and agree if it was taken away it would increase business, but it's not only the smoking ban that has done the damage, look at the price of drinks they are extortionate so the brewers need to have a look at their demands on managers and the prices they have to charge.ViewDate:

Should the FA defy the poppy ban?YES, it's about time somebody stands up to these numpties. It was our families, friends, husbands who laid down their lives so we could live in our country our way. Why should we give in to these bullies. Come on everyone stand up for this country. -
