'Cut foreign aid, and use all the monies saved to help the NHS'OOOO OOOOO OOOOOOOOOOO I wish I had said that.... do people understand that some countries we send aid to don't want it... or that countries we send in millions to, it never gets to the people it was intended, its robbed by the governments of that country. That so much administration is needed which takes its share out of the pot..... some of these countries could look after their own people, yet don't because they say good old England will do it for us.... Most of the funds are not used in the right way even when they get to the target sent to.... Our dear country is no longer able to keep looking after everyone else, it now has people here who need our help, its time to put England first, and then if we have excess funds help other countries....ViewDate:

Adele - do you like her songs?Music is very personal indeed, some people like one thing others don't. Adele is one of the most inspiring modern singers of all time. She has a wonderful voice, with a wonderful range, she sings about real feelings not ones just made up as a lot of people do for the sake of a song,,,,and most of all she writes her own songs... She is English and a good flag to fly in the USA and all around the world... she out sells most other artists around. We should all be happy to have such a talent.... Just my view of course.. I like to move with the times.ViewDate:

Top tips!I think you have hit it on the head dear Georgie Girl.... its not about having little money and having to work ..... its about mostly having four holidays a year, driving the latest 4x4 or lovely new cars, about wanting more and more.... a sad reflection of this modern world and the traps people fall into. If one adds the extra holidays, the loan on a new car, the cost of using it for work, and spending what people don't have together it will most lightly be almost the ladies take home pay... so why not give up a few things for just a few years, get to know your children at the most important time of their lives, and stop trying to keep up with all your social friendships.......... its called greed and at the expense of grandparents good natures who feel obliged to do their duty... Or course some don't feel this way, yet if they are spending all their retirement time looking after babies and very young children you have to ask WHY are they not doing things with other people and enjoying retirement..... a big clue is written here maybe....ViewDate:

Going for a coffee - what has happened to the art of conversation?Dear Rubie Don't give up being you. Its not you at all, its how people have become. They like to communicate by screen, as for the art of a good old chin wag its often down to where we live. If you are in London I would forget it, so many people don't speak English, and it can be dangerous. If out in more friendly areas of the country people will still say good morning and give a moment to exchange words.... I was a London born boy, back then it was so different everyone in a road talked to each other and looked out for each other.... I am now in Sussex and yes most people have a phone out in the situation you are talking about... yet I wont give in and hang onto the hope that people will start to talk again.. So should you. :>)ViewDate:

Top tips!Hi Pola I felt like a horrible person posting the above comment you kindly posted to. Yet it seems I am not alone... So many parents seem to think its a right to have children then pop off to work six months later saying its all fine and dandy the grandparents can fill the gaps and it wont cost us anything. The grandparents feel totally obliged to take this on. Yes of course they love their grandchildren, want contact, however most days of the week is taking the bisket.... Its not right us oldies pushing prams down the road, trying to meet the needs of these so young children. I can only say if you out there are so willing to do all this, your life must be so boring you need to fill the gap..ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen?Dear Winky Blimey you made me laugh... yet you are so right from my point of view. We should not just take what is thrust into our heads for the sake of being English opps sorry British. Times have changed and we need new blood to stand as heads of our lovely country, young new thinking blood that will be in tune with the modern world. The two misfits monkey ears and his ashtray of a wife need to disappear and let someone else take the challenge..ViewDate:

Top tips! One take up fishing and let the parents do the job of bringing up their children. I see over and over again old people pushing prams up the road, the children as lovely as I am sure they are get confused who is the real parent. I also know of many grandparents who are totally exhausted by the end of a day looking after these babies and very young children, some doing so five days a week.. Yes it saves having them in child care, yet voids them truly bonding with their mothers... Many of whom go back to work to further their careers... why not just hang on a few years before carrying on work, those first 3 to 5 years are the most important of a child's life. Money, work or your children first.... I know this will not be a favored post and can see so many getting hot with rage, yet all research is showing just what I have posted. There is a time for grandparents, yet not used as full time baby sitters.......ViewDate:

Do you think Camilla should be crowned queen? No no no no no no off with her head, off with both of their heads.... Both are vile, what they did to Diana was a crime of the people. Both represent old school, its time to reach out to the new generations of our country which would be to have Prince William as our king. Modern, right age, right attitude, time to carry on what our queen has done so far.... yet in light of an ever changing world. Charles and Camilla will just time warp us all backwards. Sorry but you did ask...ViewDate:

Alcohol dependencyDear Hawk2017 I have total respect towards you, firstly for taking it one day at a time, secondly for fronting up on a forum like this... One day at a time, builds to two then on and on, we then look back and the years have passed. Yet we still have to do it one day at a time. If you ever want a good old chin wag I would welcome it as also followed the path of broken glass, now 26 years.ViewDate:

Alcohol dependencySadly dear beader1 you and your husband both did have a problem with drinking. Alcoholic, very possible indeed. I will let myself be unguarded a little here. I am an expert in the field of this area. So many people drink each day, or evening or a few times a week and are the last people in the world to think or admit to having a problem. Almost all alcoholics are in denial until they hit the very very bottom of their lives. Many drink to cover up feelings, many develop or already have mental health problems. Its a legal drug one can use to numb, elate or use to get through life. Its starts slowly, dependence builds slowly, yet people don't see what is happening. The only way someone can become clean totally clean so as not to relapse is never to drink again, full stop.... Think of the smoker, I will cut down slowly, they get to maybe 5 or 10 a day from 20.... booooom its soon up to 20 again... same as drink you have to stop completely. So there it is in black and white, you are either a social drinker who can just use it once and a while, or you tread the other side of the line.... sorry but the truth hurts.ViewDate:

Alcohol dependencyHello Angel48. The question is, what happens when your husband does not have a drink for a few days, can he go that long without having a drink. If he does what happens. Has he said to you that he is an alcoholic, thinks he has a problem. I only ask this as you have said above you even tired AA. Did you mean he attended it? If so what happened. You say you are at your wits end and its making you unwell. May I ask you a complete stranger I know, is it his behavior towards you when he drinks or maybe before he starts his evening drinking. Why do you think he needs to drink.ViewDate:

MOVING HOME ALONE ......AND TO A NEW PART OF THE COUNTRYAn old saying...... You can be very alone in a crowed room full of people. Yet unless you go for it and talk you end up in the quiet corner. I guess this applies with most things, so if you move away for an new adventure it will work well if you forget the possible pit falls, these thoughts will only imprison you. You know the what ifs, will this happen, or that happen. We can all do this in everyday life, so maybe just be practical first then go for it... Have you thought of maybe spending a few weeks up there to have a look around, feel the area you want to live in.ViewDate:

Incorporating tai chi into your lifestyleIn the past I had a very good habit of meditation going, 9 years every day. Then due to a very stressful event I just stopped. As a young man I took part in the M Arts. So I can see how combining both as Tai Chi does can bring so many health benefits. Its going to be one of my aims next year to join such a class where I hope I can meet like minded people. I rarely meet anyone who meditates let alone who understands meditation. It does not have to have a religion attached to its practice nor does one have to sit cross legged on the floor. Older Monks sit on chairs if they can no longer sit cross legged. Tai Chi seems wonderful, gentle movement in a mindful way. Bliss.ViewDate:

Help and advice for stopping smokingThis Christmas marks year 11 since giving up smoking. I had tried 6 times in all over the years. Once nearly made it to 5 years but started again. Yet this last time I had learnt from the other failures at stopping...... woooooooo FAILURE is not the right word...... more learnt from the other experiences of trying to stop. I had my first smoke aged 9, became a regular smoker by 13 or 14 supported by a paper round. Its a drug, one of the worst man introduced to this world. Its also hard to give up, yet the good news is you can give it up. The feeling after 6 weeks that you no longer have to go out with a packet of smokes and your lighter handy all the time is in its own right such a tonic. The ball and chain cut free. The lovely feeling that you no longer stink like a stale ashtray, that your breath is sweet, your teeth starting to whiten up again is alone one of the best reasons to give up outside your health. I may have left it a bit to late stopping at 50, however it will give me more years of life than had I carried on...... Ya I know the same old woffle you hear from a addict who is clean, yet its so true, you will live longer, feel so much better, have more money in your pocket and just think you wont be giving the government that extra tax. Please don't give up trying to give up, we nearly all relapse a few times yet win in the end.ViewDate:

Should Nigel Farage be ennobled in the House of Lords?Dear Nigel Love you or hate you as the public may vote. You have guts, drive and a vision to shake up this country, and you have done just that. It was time someone made a stand to make England great again, empower us all. This gentleman does not need to be a Lord, it would not bode well with seeing him out fishing on the river back with his smoke in his mouth and a hip flask in readyness. Sadly he does not have a party anyone can take seriously, given time who knows yet without him at the top it will never happen.ViewDate:

Do you agree with Cryogenic Preservation?People have the right to make choices in this life, so its up to whoever wants to, to go ahead with this. One cold thought is this. When the company goes bust, what happens to those in Cryogenic Preservation? You would need a system that protects those who use this, the chances of a company going on generation after generation is very subjective indeed. Its all about money really... However we can not take away the chances of people having cures for serious illnesses in the future,. It gives hope where maybe hope has been taken away from some so why not.ViewDate:

Are you having enough fun?Its so sad to see those we love, family and friends leaving us. It seems so unfair, however I try to deal with life now one day at a time, yes remember our dear love ones yet try to live for today, not worry to much about tomorrow until it arrives. The clock tics and time is fairly short now, so I guess grabbing every little sun ray of light and happiness is my way of living life to the full. Even on a bad day to look for just one small spark no matter how small it might be brings us warmth, something to smile about and if we are lucky we make some good friends.ViewDate:

Are you affected by SAD?Its lovely to see that I am not the only one who will admit to SAD. I am ok up till Christmas, yet in January and Feburary I get a bit lost unless I keep busy. Once March starts its into another gear as I can feel spring is not so far away. I walk I lot in the countryside so seeing the changes into new life is a real boost. I was born in February a difficult birth so I was told, its was in a year when the snow was very deep. I wonder if or how this might have impacted on my getting SAD. Ha ha by the way I am a smiley happy bloke once with people, however, if you have SAD syndrome you will know the feelings. So rock on March 2017 and the rebirth of the countryside and all green spaces.ViewDate:
