Should same-sex couples be allowed to get married in a church?I absolutely agree. While not exactly a club, the Church gives love, shelter, care and support to all who follow its teachings. It is tolerant to all, regardless of their differences and/or failings, while still retaining its principles. I am divorced and I remarried in a civil ceremony since I understand that I could not remarry in Church.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Autumn 2016Just read The Widow. An excellent book which, while not in any way glamorising the facts, gives a thoughtful insight to the various aspects of the situation.ViewDate:

Relationship break downsOh I feel so sorry for you. As grandparents you are in such a bad place and can't risk losing all contact with your grandchildren. I suppose all you can do is continue to keep in contact as best you can and hope the situation improves over time.ViewDate:

What are your views on TV Charity Begging Adverts?I used to give generally to international charities but after such bad publicity about funds not reaching those in real need I now give to local causes instead. I think the money goes to the right place and after all the government gives so much in overseas aid that I really think they don't need any more from me.ViewDate:

Religious choicePractising Catholic without a doubt. Cannot imagine living three steps behind a man. Our Western world has moved on so far over the years as shown by the Christian tolerance of all opinions.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?I tried recently to read War and Peace for at least the third time. Perhaps it's because I read at bed time, but I still can't get my head round it. I remember reading Dr. Zhivago in the seventies and although it was complicated at first I got into it fairly easily. Now could age have anything to do with this or perhaps having seen Omar Sharif and Julie Christie in the film?ViewDate:

English GrammarSilversurfers Editor said How important is the correct use of English grammar and punctuation to you on social networking sites? If you see something mis-spelt on Facebook are you itching to correct it, or does it not detract from the what you are reading?

What book are you currently reading?squizthewizz said I'm going on a long train journey next week, so thought I'd get stuck into a book now and hopefully finish it off while travelling. Starting to read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I know some critics say he's a little mainstream and over simplistic but I really enjoyed the Da Vinci code and the few 3 chapters of Angels and Demons is just as gripping. Highly recommended.
I read Angels and Demons a while ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dan Brown 's strength I think is in his short chapters which always seem to leave you on a cliff edge, yet because they are short you can leave the book at any time and go back to it. Ideal for holidays or traveling.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Autumn 2014Have just finished reading Daughter. Like some others I thoroughly enjoyed it but found the ending a little disturbing. Perhaps if the final scene had been extended it may have felt more part of the story.ViewDate:
