Should Theresa May Resign or Remain? It was her ego that led her to call the GE and she totally misread the views of many. May's naivety was assuming that Brexit was the only thing on people's minds and she has clearly been proved so wrong. What's really on people's minds are schools begging for money to prop up their core activity, an NHS in crisis with waiting lists ever increasing, people being left in corridors , operations being cancelled. Disabled people being demonised through PIP assessments where the targets set are for the DWP to fail 80% of applicants and people who have been denied this support dying from their illnesses. And let's not forget food banks and child poverty. zero hour contracts- I could go on...... Of course if people watch Channel 5 and believe what they read in mainstream media they could be forgiven for thinking that people on benefits are scroungers- the reality is that working families are having to resort to claiming Working tax Credit whilst businesses are not paying a living wage- so if you look at it from another viewpoint we tax payers are paying benefits to line the coffers of big business who get away with zero hour contracts. And if anyone thinks that the UK is in any kind of position to negotiate then bear in mind we voted to leave this club- and the say will be down to the remaining members. And as for getting into bed with the DUP that really beggars belief- d some research and check them out So should she go? Yes most decidedly !ViewDate:

Would you like to see the mail, rail and energy industries nationalised?Just a little research on how much the government currently subsidises rail shows this from a gov.uk website "Governments received a net payment from TOCs in each of the last six years, receiving £817 million in 2015-16, which is the largest amount received since the time series started in 1985-86. On average, for every passenger kilometre travelled in Great Britain, governments received 1.3p in franchise premiums in 2015-16, which was the same as the previous year. The majority of government funding was in direct rail support, which is the grant payment to Network Rail. This was £4.0 billion in 2015-16, an increase of £197 million on 2014-15." As for nationalisation taking us back to strikes then clearly some commenters don't see the same news that I do as they are ongoing, mainly because they want to remove the guards from the service. I'm really not sure what happens if there is any kind of incident on a train if this becomes nationwide practice. And of course there is the overcrowding issue - again publicised widely.ViewDate:

How easy is it really to get a job when you're over 50?I started my own business 12 years ago after leaving a career in Adult Education and Training - the recession has really affected sales and looking to have at least some guaranteed income, last Autumn I applied and got a part time job (8 hours per week but that suits me perfectly as I can still run my business) I'm 61 and my skills set perfectly matches the job I got. My understanding is that employers can't ask your age on job applications and one way to get an interview is to not include all your work experience or include dates of the achievement of any qualifications . Good luck to all those still searchingViewDate:

The Nation's Mental HealthIt's a very complicated subject in so far as the range of illnesses and the possible reasons . In many instances it's biological factors and others stress induced. I use the term stress in it's widest sense because even though we as individuals can take steps to reduce the stress we place upon ourselves, there are times when life life sends us major life changing events (eg serious health issues, the death of a loved one, separations, redundancy, abuse - the list goes on ) which are bound to knock the wind out of us. Changes in society must play a part as we become more isolated - families disperse and move around more as they seek work or better opportunities for their children. Communities change as part of this migration of people. If I compare the family and community support that was all around me to the community I now live in it's a world apart. And for me the main thing that's been lost is the feeling of belonging and those everyday good mornings and chats. Coupled with this we have the technological advances which often leads to people viewing the world through the lens of their mobile or communicating through Social media or emails -and we are bombarded by information every waking hour unless we turn them off! Then we have pollution - do we really know how this is affecting us? Force fed Flouride in our water - we have no choice on that . Another endless list ... So what can we do ? Well we can stop bombarding our brains with too much information- we can be selective about the time we give to the TV and the internet. If we go out and about we can stop to enjoy what we are doing and observe what's around us , rather than observing through a lens. We can learn to be kind to ourselves , take time to relax, time to pamper ourselves, take up a new hobby, challenge ourselves to do more of what we enjoy, meditate, listen to beautiful music, exercise more , talk to friends, make new friends , make bread - in fact do more of what you enjoyViewDate:

Do you want another EU Referendum? It's not a matter of giving up Graham it's simply an accceptance of democracy- I'm a sole trader and I deal with Europe as a buyer and a seller and don't relish having to deal with Customs when I post items out or pay import duties on what I buy.ViewDate:

Do you want another EU Referendum?I voted to remain but fully accept the democratic process and would not advocate for a 2nd referendum either- this whole Hard Brexit / Soft Brexit scenario is an absolute myth- it's based on May's notion that tough negotiations will get the UK the best deal- how short sighted and arrogant is that? Any agreement will be via the agreement of all the other EU nations and they have already made it quite clear that the first priority are around Human Rights and the rights of EU nationals to retain freedom of movement. As for the LibDems I am astounded that people still vote for them after their collusion in the coalition - it will be interesting to see in the next General Election how they fareViewDate:
