Hi lizcleuch, I am a former OU student, I did not enjoy Science at school though always had an interest in Biology. The OU changed all that, I had some great material and tutors and went onto qualify for a BSc (Hons), and until a few years ago was teaching English for Technical Purposes in Germany. I have updated my teaching qualification but am finding it an uphill struggle to find any work back in UK.

Never stop learning, completed my OU degree a few years ago, then went onto acquire a few teaching qualifications. That way you keep up to date and in touch with the younger generation. I am expecting some young people from abroad who need to improve their English, they view it as a working holiday! It is easy to finance because under present regulations, you don't have to pay back your loan until your income reaches a certain level. Details on the government website. Become engaged with education!
