Care at Mickle Hill ranked “Outstanding” by Care Quality Commission

Rangeford Villages is delighted to announce that care at Mickle Hill has been ranked “outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission following their latest inspection in December 2019. Care at the later living village is provided by domiciliary care provider, MHA.

The Care Quality Commission is an independent regulator of health and adult social care in England aiming to make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care.

The Commission looked at the level of care offered, interviewing residents and their relatives who were very satisfied with the service provided by MHA staff.

The Commission noted that “People’s needs were central to the Mickle Hill village”, as care was highly personalised, and activities and support were tailored to people’s individual interests. Also highlighted was the professionalism and compassion of palliative care as well as staff’s ability to support residents in the least restrictive way possible, encouraging their independence.

The service was also found to be very well-led by care manager Gillian Green, and that a strong relationship had been developed with the local community.

Commenting on the inspection’s findings, Rangeford Villages’ Chief Executive Officer Howard Nankivell said, “Achieving an outstanding CQC rating is a terrific achievement. The onsite care service forms a critical part of the continued success of Mickle Hill and remains a key selling point for many of the residents that move into the village. I congratulate Gillian and the team, and their rating is well deserved.”

Nestled at the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and set over 11 acres, Mickle Hill is a retirement village for over 60s comprising 168 apartments and bungalows. There is a Pavilion which includes central amenities like a Café Bistro, a Cinema, a Hair and Beauty Salon and even a Jacuzzi.

Residents can benefit from onsite care support in the comfort of their own home provided by MHA. The Care team will discuss with residents the level of support and care available to support their needs before reservation. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week care staff help those who need assistance with household chores such as cooking, cleaning and shopping, or with dressing and bathing.
