Why holiday lets are a good investment…and how to maximise your return

Across Britain, the holiday letting market is thriving with a huge upsurge in the number of travellers choosing to stay on domestic shores for their holiday.

This increased demand for holiday homes make it a great time to be a part of the letting industry, with 2022 bookings for properties letting with at record levels.

Why invest in a holiday let?

It will certainly be no surprise that owning a holiday home is a fantastic opportunity to supplement your income. Whilst there may be no hard-and-fast rules, there are certainly ways in which you can not only secure more bookings but also encourage repeat bookings too.

We all know of the importance of first impressions, so simple touches such as a little hamper can go a long way to getting the holiday off to a great start. Also, guests looking for family-friendly holidays form a large part of the staycation market, so providing a few essentials for very young children such as cots and stairgates or play equipment, or a chest of games and toys for older ones will heighten the appeal of your let. Add to this a safe, enclosed garden for the family dog and you will be extending the appeal even further.

Once you’ve considered the type of guests you might want to attract, you should also think about how you can best showcase your property. Take the time to stage your property well for photographs, ensure your interiors are well thought out, as well as considering little extras to add a touch of luxury, such as a hot tub. The addition of a wood burner can also add an appeal that helps extend bookings into autumn and winter periods.
