A Different World

A Different World

There’s been sunshine in the parks
And Spring is everywhere
The birds are chirping happily
Yet folk aren’t sitting there
It kind of feels so eerie
The silence and the hush
The World has slowed right down
And no one’s in a rush.

The shops and bars have closed
And everyone’s inside
The birds and wildlife wonder
Where do the human’s hide?
No daily hustle and bustle
The motorways, quiet and still
Whilst us indoors find things to do
And pray we don’t get ill.

For we are all in lockdown
And life has changed so much
We miss our friends and loved ones
That suddenly we can’t touch
We watch the news quite fearful
Each broadcast spreads more dread
We mourn dear souls who’ve lost their lives
And many a tear have been shed

Yet through all this, there’s hope
A true sense of community
As slowly the great British public
Accept the new life we see
We didn’t see this coming
This catastrophic cruel mishap
But we all united to support the NHS
And outside front doors did clap.

That’s just not enough though
There’s so much more we can do
Sign up become a volunteer
Our NHS so needs you.
It might be to go shopping
Or just a friendly call
To those who are simply lonely
And have no one at all.

So reach out everybody
Show others that you care
Stay strong and well and positive
Don’t dwell on what’s not fair
We will and can get through this
So let’s do what we’re told
One day we’ll remember Corona
And live to be wise and old.
