A new baby

A new baby

How tenderly this little charm,
Lays upon her mother’s arm.
Feels the love and comfort there,
Knowing not, but feeling care.

Only but a few hours old,
Small fingers round her mother fold.
Though so small, with such a grip,
She surely doesn’t mean to slip.

While with loving thoughts caressed,
Feeding at her mother’s breast.
Joy like this must surely flow,
Contentment on this child bestow.

Nothing ever will replace,
These first few hours of loving grace.
Love, throughout the ages bringing,
The wonder of a new beginning.
