A Painting on my Wall

A Painting on my Wall

I am writing a poem this morning
About a painting on my wall
It is not huge or fancy
It really is quite small

It portrays a pretty street
It is in St Ives Cornwall
People strolling in sunlight
Past shops that are quite small

Looking in every window
I remember going down that street
The things I saw were amazing
The things I bought such a treat

I walked and looked in the galleries
Local artists were showing their wares
Most were really expensive
So rapidly I left to odd stares

I saw one by the harbour
It looked inviting and nice
I looked at all of the paintings
I found one at just the right price

That painting is now on my wall
I stare at it every day
It takes me back to my holiday
Until the end of my Lockdown day.

I have left work due to chronic health problems. I used to love walking especially along the coast on holiday, arthritis has stopped me doing that. I live on my own, I used to have two rescue cats but due to Asthma they have had to be rehomed. I enjoy reading and I am interested in photography and geology/Paleontology especially micro fossils. I am really proud to have discovered two new species. When you have problems you discover who are your true friends. It is so easy to get depressed when you have difficulty in getting out and about. Now I have been inspired to write poetry.
