A rose for my Mother

A rose for my Mother

A rose for my Mother, placed gently with care,
On a small piece of stone where she lies,
With a heart full of love, as a small silent prayer,
Is sent on its way through the skies.

A mind, heavy laden with memory deep,
Of the guidance that she gave to me,
As I grew in my manner, her custom to keep,
Yet to be, who I wanted to be.

Just a small gentle lady with arms open wide,
And a World full of love in her soul,
Who let me, grow slowly, and never would chide,
She fulfilled every part, of her role.

A rose for my Mother, placed gently with care,
On a small piece of stone where she lies,
With a heart full of love, as a small silent prayer,
Is sent on its way, through the skies.

( Goodnight God Bless, love you! xx )

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
