Angels

A wonderfully poignant poem written by Sue Ward ..

Angels

When a door quite suddenly opens
And no one seems to be there
When something seems to rush past you
And lovingly touches your hair

Don’t be afraid never show any fear
They mean you no harm at all
It’s someone who dearly loves you
Just letting you know they’re still here

The shape of a cloud that forms in the sky
The breeze that blows on your face
The kiss on your cheek from a butterfly
Is something quite hard to erase

The sound of a bird trying to make itself known
The one perching high in a tree
Could almost be saying you’re never alone
Just stop and listen to me

When sometimes trouble surrounds you
And things get too hard to bear
An Angel’s wing wraps around you
Although you won’t know that they’re there

An Angel will always be with you
You’ll never be apart
Always there to love and protect you
They’re someone who’s close to your heart

Dear Suzie Q,
What a coincidence, last evening I was recovering from an eye operating and probably for the first
time ever I wrote a little poem about Angels (the people who took care of me in hospital) I now read
your beautiful little poem and say YES there definitely ARE Angels both seen and unseen all around
us.
I love your poem. Thank you for sharing it.

My wife always said, "when a white feather floats down close to you, it was sent by an angel". she passed away over 6 years ago and white feathers still float down to me. She was and still is my Angel. I love your poem, thank you Suzie.

Hi Suzie,
What a beautiful Poem, I read it very slowly the second time and it made me cry, thinking of my wonderful husband who I lost 4 months ago to a brain tumour. The McMillan and Hospice at home nurses, who came at 10pm till 6 am for the last 5 weeks of his life were my Angels, not forgetting the daily carers. Thank you Suzie.

Suzie, I loved your poem, it was beautiful and brought a tear to my eye. I know angels exist, you only have to ask for their help and they will give it. Please write some more xx

I 'lost' my mum and dad within 10months last year, and although I'm not nesessary believer, sometimes unusual, but good, things happen, like a red admiral butterfly in the loft, and a lilac tree that had never, never bloomed, blossomed beautifully this year. I'm sure it's just to give comfort. I like to think so anyway.
