Be Careful What You Wish For!

Be Careful What You Wish For!

Husband died some years ago
And I was left alone
Little joy in theatre trips, sat there on my own
Now I don’t chat ‘bout girlie things
Or soaps on the t.v.
So thought I’d say a little prayer
Please send a male for me

My requirements, I failed to state
When I got one, it was far too late
What I really did intend-a
Did not match that man’s agenda
I’ll not express what came about
My lips are sealed…..I’m saying nowt

I just bid a very quick adieu
Your requirements not on my menu
Now given up on watching shows
Spend my money buying clothes
Also purchase matching shoes
Kept in cupboards till I want to use

And without a single doubt
If they fail to please……I chuck ‘em out

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
