Body Bits

It’s not often I write poetry about the body, but this one came out of nowhere, and perhaps some of the ladies on here might relate to what it says! I just re-read it after quite a while and smiled at the sentiments.

Body Bits

They wander southwards, east and west
These poor old sagging ageing breasts

What once was perky lythe alert
Now creep towards my stretchy skirt

One brave and braless ex young thing
Now shops around for scaffolding

From younger muscles taut and tight
When lying down, one’s left, one’s right

Stretch marks abound without a gap
And bits of skin that overlap

Thighs that look like orange peel
That no young stud would kill to feel

I even checked it on the phone
Just how they use that silicone

And then my husband held me near
And said, I really love you dear

So as the mirror I can’t see
I’ll live my life as young old me
