Born into Heaven

Born into Heaven

So hard to understand your ways,
So many tearful, dreadful days,
Our spirit broken, though our trust is strong.
So many hopes, so many fears,
But expectation ends in tears,
When new life returns, within an ‘angel’s song’.

We keep our faith, we always do,
We hold our love, and trust in you,
And we pray as best we can each day we live.
A little daughter, or a son,
It doesn’t matter, either one,
Would become to us the most precious gift to give.

Our memories are filled with tears,
And the endless, ‘childless’ years and years,
When you have called our kindred to your throne.
Though stilled their hearts, but great our pride,
That you have called them to your side,
To stand with you – and never more to roam!
( God bless the little children, ‘Born into heaven’ )

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
