There was no mother ship or strange lights in the night
Yet an alien has landed among us its presence in plain sight
Its origins are blurred its impact has crippled  mankind
An anecdote to destroy this is imperative to find

Thousands have fallen ill all around the globe
Hundreds have perished while we search for answers in a microscope
Self quarantines have been ordered curfews put into effect
Borders closed planes grounded in order to protect

Sports venues and concerts cancelled all large gatherings too
Business and community support services awaiting instructions what to do
The world economy has dived taking a heavy toll
Stock market fears multiply as they continue their downward roll

Public and private sector watch helplessly in this progression
As it leads the world towards an economic recession
What is this alien who has come among us uniting governments worldwide
To contain it’s further contamination stop it in its stride

It’s a previously unknown virus powerful to kill and maim
Highly Infectious to humans it’s crucial to restrain
May scientists be swift to find a vaccine to destroy this alien virus in our midst
We are confident with global collaboration an antiviral formula will soon exist
So we can resume life as we know it healthy happy and free of this Coronavirus which will go down in history
